Sound of Heart ❤

The rest of the morning and early afternoon Jungkoook and Jisoo spent in front of the fire. Even though her heart would do strange things everytime he smiled at her or they accidentally touched or their eyes lingered for too long, Jisoo was surprised at how easy it was to talk to him. They talked about everything. About his career as a singer, about her career in the corporate world. About where they called home, their hobbies and interests, the kind of sports they liked, music, books and food.

"Oh, I'd much rather stay at home than go out for a meal. Although I enjoy trying different cuisines, I'd rather cook it myself." Jungkoook took a sip of hot chocolate that Jisoo made them earlier. "I don't particularly enjoy all the attention I get when I go out," He paused for a moment and then continued, "Like this, I'd much rather do this, sit by the fire, drink hot chocolate and have a good conversation."

"Don't tell me you don't enjoy the attention from all the women throwing themselves at you?" Jisoo said in jest, giving Jungkoook a facetious smile.

"You joke!" Jungkoook tried to keep his voice steady, his heart was beating a million miles an hour after that smile she just gave him. "I've had so many marriage proposals already, and half of them from married women!" He said playfully.

Jisoo laughed.

Suddenly the sound of laughter and rain were broken by a thunderous roar and the sky lit up as lightning broke through the clouds. Jisoo immediately sat up straight and her palms started to sweat. Ever since she can remember she was afraid of thunder and lightning and when a second roar made the cabin windows rattle, she jumped a little.

"Are you alright?" Jungkoook asked concerned.

Jisoo took a deep breath, "I'm just a little scared of thunder storms, ever since I was a child, never outgrew it." Jisoo answered nervously.

The sky split in two as another dart of light filled the sky and the deafening sound of thunder made the sound of the relentless rain disappear.

"My mom used to tell me and my sister that when the lightning flashes like that, it's God taking our photo. So, whenever there was a thunder storm, my sister and I would stand in front of the window and do a whole possing session." Jungkoook said with a little nostalgia in his voice.

This made Jisoo think of her Dad. How she wished he was with her at that moment, making her feel safe during the storms of life. "When I was little, my dad always made me feel better during a thunderstorm. We loved camping, so my dad would build a tent with sheets and blankets in front of the fireplace and my mom and dad and I would stay there the whole night, snacking ans singing camp songs. And before I knew it, the storm will be over." Jisoo stared into the fire, seeing her dad sitting on the living room floor with her on his lap, unpacking her favorite snack for her, her mom making sure all her favorite stuffed animals were tucked into the sleeping bag next to her because they were just as afraid as she was.

For someone that always kept her emotions buried under years of suffering, unknowingly Jisoo was showing Jungkoook everything she was feeling in that moment. Jungkoook could see her fear, he could she her longing for that comfort from her past and said, "Well, why don't we do that then, we already have the fire going. Maybe not building a tent, but sleep here tonight and even snack something. What do you think?"

Jisoo looked out  the window and when yet another bolt of lightning lit up the sky, said, "Yes, yes, we can do that. Thanks, it's very nice of you." And she felt a little relieved.

After they got some blankets and pillows, they made something for dinner and took their plates and a bag of snacks to their make-shift beds.

"To a great day, despite the reason for being here, and to an even better evening." Jungkoook help up his glass and Jisoo lifted hers in response.
