Jisoo could see the song wasn't done but the message was clear. Again, her emotions that stayed so close to the surface lately, overwhelmed her and a tear rolled down her cheek. Jungkook gently placed his hand against her cheek and wiped the tear with his thumb.

Jisoo closed her eyes, a million things were going through her head. Why must he be so wonderful? Why couldn't he be the jerk she thought he was the moment he arrived? But that wasn't true, she never thought he was a jerk!  She knew from that first day there was something different about him, she knew he was going to make it difficult not to love him. In her head she knew what she had to do, but it was her heart that she couldn't trust.

"What are you thinking?" Jungkook asked with a tender voice, putting his guitar down next to him on the floor.

Jisoo avoided his eyes, she couldn't dare look at him. Jungkook cupped her chin and said, "Look at me." He gently moved her head so she could face him. "I'm in love with you! I know it's crazy after knowing you for only a couple of days, but from the moment I saw you on the veranda that first day, I knew.... I knew you were the one for me."

"Stop! Don't!" Jisoo felt like she couldn't breathe. Nausea crept up her throat and tears were pouring down her cheeks, "I can't do this! I can't do this!" She jumped up and ran out the cabin door.

Jisoo kept on running, down the veranda steps and up the muddy road. She didn't care about the rain, she didn't care about the gravel cutting into her bare feet. She just cared about Jungkook but she knew he was better off without her.

Jungkook flew up and followed her out the door. "Jisoo!" he called but it was as if she didn't hear him. He ran after her calling out her name but she kept on running.

Jisoo could hear Jungkook calling her name. There was no sound more beautiful, it could almost be part of the song.... The song, the beautiful song he wrote for her.... and she could see the title written at the top of the page in her mind's eye, "Jisoo's Song."

After the cabin lost sight of Jisoo, she couldn't run anymore. She stopped and buried her face in her hands, crying, overcome with emotional exhaustion.

Jungkook caught up with Jisoo and stood in front of her. Taking her by the shoulders he said, "Look at me," rain streaming down his face. Jisoo didn't look up. "Jisoo, look at me," he repeated more gently.

"Don't," Jisoo said, still with her face in her hands, "you don't understand!" This time she looked up, her tears concealed by the rain on her face. "You are better off without me! Loving me will only bring you pain. Its better for you to forget about me!" She turned around and started to walk away, but Jungkook grabbed her arm and flung her around and before she realized what was happening, he kissed her.

Jisoo's whole body felt weak. His one arm wrapped around her waist, holding her tight and with his other hand on the back of her neck, she could feel his every emotion in each fingertip. She could feel the strength in his embrace and it made her feel safe.

For a moment everything is forgotten, anything seemed possible. Just her and Jungkook, nothing else mattered. Not the rain, not the thunder she could hear rumbling in the background, all her problems were cast aside.... She wanted to get lost in this moment and stay here forever, but reality punched her in the stomach and she had to face it.

She pulled away from Jungkook and looked up at him, "I can't, we can't. It'll never work." She stammered and took a step back.

Jungkook grabbed her hand, not allowing her to take another step. "Why? I'm in love with you Jisoo and I know you feel the same. You cannot deny it," he didn't take his eyes off her for one moment.

"I'm not denying it!" not even the rain could hide her tears now, "But you'll never find happiness with me."

"How can you say that! Just in this one kiss I've felt the happiest I've ever felt in my whole life!" Jungkook took both her hands in his and kissed them.

Helplessness overwhelmed Jisoo, "You don't understand!" She said softly.

"Explain it to me then, help me understand," Jungkook pleaded with her.

Jisoo bowed her head and closed her eyes. For a moment there was silence, even the sound of the thunder seemed to be turned down. She slowly lifted her head towards him, opened her eyes and looked at him. "I'm sick," She swallowed against the lump in her throat, "I found out about three weeks ago and the doctors gave me at the most a year." Saying it loud felt strange but it was almost a relief.

As Jisoo's words started to sink in, Jungkook's head was spinning. His one hand dropped to his side and running his other through his soaking wet hair, he turned around. How could God bring this perfect woman into his life just to take her away soon, even before they could start their lives together. Did he misunderstand? Wasn't Jisoo the one God chose for him? But he knew the answer to that question, she was the one! And even if he had only a year, he wanted to spend every minute of it with her.

He turned to face Jisoo again, she was staring into the distance. In her vulnerability she looked even more beautiful and all he wanted to do was hold her, forever. He touched the side of her face and gently turned her head towards him. The pain in her eyes tore his heart to pieces. He took her by the hand, pulled her close and held her tight, "Even if you only had a week, I want to be with you. I love you and will love you forever, nothing will ever change that." Jungkook tilted her head back and softly said, "If you only have a year, I want to spend every minute of it with you." He lowered his head and gently touched his lips to hers.
