"Patibabu..... Mujse bat to kizia.... Muje batayiye na... Kya galti ki hai mene? Kiu apne asa kia.... Bolia na.... Me hat zor ti hu apke samne.... Bolia Patibabu! Jabab dizia muje........" She screamed while hitting the glass door with her tiny fist. Her deep back orbs surveyed him from tip to toe, trying to figure out the actually reason of this melancholy silence that has followed him.
"Mene kaha na Bondita..... Muje tumse koi bath nehi karni.....! Mere pass koi uttar nehi hae tumhare prashnoka....!" He screamed and threw a hissy fit.
She rolled her eyes in exasperation as the moment was too poignant . She slid herself agaist the door sensing the heaviness overpowering her ...but she still refused to leave him without her answers due to her incontestable mind.
"Jhoot! Dunia ka asa koi sawal hae hi nehi jiska jabab apke pass na ho! Muje janna hae Patibabu! Kiu kiya apne Manorama ji se saadi?" She again screamed in helplessness and kept arguing with him but he was obdurate.
He had enough now! He went towards the door causing it to open with a jerk. The fatigue and enervated soul fell on the floor as she lost the support but he was quick to catch.
"Bondita.... Kiu kar rehi ho asa.... Jo hae usse manlo.. Manorama abh meri patni hae!" He said and made her sit.
"Manlungi....lekin muje vaja janni hae.... !" She said and took his hands in her.
He released his hands from hers and said, " Vajah janni hae na? To suno.... Me tang a chuka hu tumse! Tumhari samassya ka hal nilkalte nilkalte! Abh muje vhi apni jindegi jeena hae! Kush rehna hai muje... Islia mene apne man pasand ladki se saadi ki hae! Samji tum!" He said breaking the tender heart of the poor soul who was looking towards him with disbelief!
"Ap jhut bol rehe ho Patibabu! Asa nehi hae! " she said maybe trying to convince her ownself while he stood their in pure silence shedding and wiping the silent tears which betrayed her eyes.
"Ap mujse pyaar nehi karte?" She spoke out of the blue.
"Pyaar?" He laughed sarcastically but with a pang on his heart unknown to all.
"Koi apni zimmedari se pyar karta hae vhala?" He said.
"Me dost nehi hu apki?" She asked.
"Sirf zimmedari ho!" He replied in a cold tone.
"Thik hae fir zimmedari nibhaye apni! Muje kagzar de dena chali jaunge me ap sabse dur!" She replied killing all the emotions inside her.
"Kesa kagzar ?" He asked even though he knew what she referred that time.
"Dalhousie ka form! Or......." She said and let out the last sigh.
This time he was unsure. "Or kya?"
"Talak k kazag!" She replied with a sarcastic smirk playing at the corner of her lips.
He closed his eyes trying to bottle up his pain and nodded his head. He didn't had the courage to open his eyes as he will not be able stop them from bailing out which he cannot afford atleast infront of her .
"Hamesha kush raho Bondita.... Me prathna kartahu bohot age baro tum zindegime.... Me janta hu....tumhe bohot dukh rohara hoga....lekin is do pal ka dukh sehi tumhe zindegi barki khushi milegi.... Sotti Bondita!" He whispered as he heard the thap... Thap... Thap... Sound of her anklets fading away slowly.
Safar ye hae tera
Ye rasta tera
Tuje jeena hae
Mere bina
"Chalti hu barrister babu..... " she said as she had met the rest of the family members maybe for the last time?
"Man laga kar parna....... Or barrister babu Bondita bankar lautna...... Meri dua tumhare sath hae hamesha! Bijay vhaba....." He said as she touched his feet.
"Jarur barrister babu..... Me karungi hamara sapna pura..... Lekin laute k apke pass apki badmash Bondita nehi ayegi.... Balki Barrister Bondita Das ayegi......." She said the last line and turned her face letting go the tears she had been controlling .
"Say Sayonara to you cripy and bubbly Bondita.... Patibabu......" She whispered but audible enough for Anirudh.
"Intezar karunga me tera vada raha.....
Rahunga me tera hamesha vada raha....
Lekin muje vhul na jana....
Darnake ruk jayegi meri tere bina...."
He cried out the last line as she crossed the threshold of the house welcoming a new chapter of their life.
"Patibabu..... kabhi kabhi duriya rishtome neyi mithash bhar deti hae..... Hum dono ki rishteme vhi ayegi..... Sotti!" Said a little image of Bondita while wipping his tears.
