(Y/n) kept throwing sneaky glances back to Sokka, who was throwing his own glances behind him.
Like he was waiting for Suki to come running back, or making sure there were no signs of her being in trouble.
There was so sign of her, so it was safe to assume that her journey back to the cave was going okay.
The whole group was close to the wall of Ba Sing Se, when Aang and Momo swooped down to meet them.
"Aang, what're you doing here? I thought you were looking for Appa." Katara said as Aang landed in front of the group.
"I was, but something stopped me. Something big."
(Y/n) scrunches her eyebrows. What could be so big that it would distract Aang from Appa?
Aang takes the group to the base of the wall. Toph and Aang form a platform underneath the group, and earthbend it up the side of the wall.
"Now whats so big that Appa has to wait?" Sokka asks as they ascend.
"That." Aang gestures to a huge metal machine in the desert, with a large drill on its front, moving quickly towards the wall. Eight tanks on each side of the machine were in a diagonal formation, with the drill acting as the spearhead of the formation.
Everyone gets off of the platform, and moves on top of the wall.
"We made it to Ba Sing Se and we're still not safe. No one is." Ying says sadly, holding her baby.
"What are you people doing here?" A man dressed in Earth Kingdom soldier clothing asks. "Civilians aren't allowed on the wall."
Aang steps forward with his staff in hand. "I'm the Avatar. Take me to whoever's in charge."
Ying and her family were taken somewhere safer, while the other five were taken to the man in charge, who she assumed to be a general. He sat at a desk in front of them, under the roof of a portion of the wall.
"It is an honour to welcome you to the outer wall, young Avatar, but your help is not needed." The general says.
"Not needed?" Aang questions.
At a time like this, the Avatar is so needed. Especially since he's already here.
"Not needed," the General repeats. "I have the situation under control. I assure you, the Fire Nation cannot penetrate this wall," he stands, and walks out of the open room, and into the outer area of the wall.
(Y/n) snorts. She was from the Fire Nation, and here she was. In, or on top of, the wall.
"Many have tried to break through it, but none have succeeded." The General states.
"What about the Dragon of the West? He got in." (Y/n) says smugly, a small smirk pulling at the edge of her lip.
Sokka elbows her lightly, as if to tell her to not egg this guy on.
"W-well, uh, technically, yes. But he was quickly expunged," the General quickly turns to them, and holds his finger up matter-of-factly. "Eh, nevertheless, that's why the city is named Ba Sing Se. It's the impenetrable city. They don't call it Na Sing Se!"
The General laughs at his own joke. No one else does.
"That means penetrable city."
"Yeah, thanks for the tour, but we still got the drill problem." Toph says dryly.
"Not for long. To stop it, i've sent an elite platoon of earthbenders called the Terra Team." The General says.
"That's a good group name. Very catchy." Sokka says, putting his hand to his chin.
