*Ashley's POV*

I awkwardly hug back the man who I assume is Adrian's father by the looks of it. The feeling in a way is foreign to me and in an attempt not to be rude I resist the urge to pull away. I can't remember the last time I was hugged by a father figure and I miss the safe feeling it gives me but it scares me in a way that just like my father, the man in my arms is going to disappear. I look in the direction of Adrian and see his eyes swim in awe as his eyes watch over his mate and his father. He gives me a gentle smile that makes my heart speed up and I can feel my cheeks warm-up, he giggles at the sight making me turn away feeling my face burn hotter.

I finally feel Adrian's father pull away but looks at me up and down and I can't help but feel weirdly a little self-conscious as I feel his eyes rake over my body in what feels like a judgemental way. As soon as his eyes pull away I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in. Adrian's father walks over to him and they break out into a conversation that I don't bother listening into, instead, I take a minute to take in their resemblance, and just by looking at them standing next to each other, you would quite possibly mistake them for brothers just with a large age difference. Adrian got his golden-brown eyes from his father and his jawline but I'm assuming that Adrian got his brown hair from his mother considering the fact that his father's hair is black but in a way you could see a bit of gray showing at his roots more likely from age. As my eyes scan over their similarities, my eyes meet Adrian's and his brown eyes bore into mine and I feel my face flush again in embarrassment from staring too long. The smirk that spreads across his face makes me bite my lip.

We maintain eye contact and I finally gesture toward the door with my finger and he gets the message clear. Can I go? He gives me a nod and I turn on my heels and exit the room, closing the door behind me. I make my way to the living room taking a seat on the couch letting its soft interior comfort my and my muscles that I didn't know we're aching. I close my eyes enjoying the silence that has made its way throughout the house. Before sleep takes me into its grip the front door bust open making my eyes snap open and I jolt up.

"PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!" a little girl falls to her knees her breathing is rapid and ragged. I spring up from the couch and rush over to the little girl, as I get closer I can see the tears streaming down her face and the fear is evident in her eyes and I feel my stomach drop in fear.

"Sweetie, breath please," I say in a soothing voice pulling her onto my lap petting her head gently as she hyperventilates in my arms making my heartache for the little girl. It takes her a few minutes before she finally calms down and her breathing slows down to normal.

"Sweetie, what's your name?" I put her face into my hands and look at her in the eyes and I watch her eyes fill with tears again.

"Kali," she says in a small voice. I give her a warm smile trying to put her at ease before I ask my next question.

"Ok Kali, can you tell me what happened?" I ask her slowly and I watch the pain return to her eyes and her body starts shaking in my hands. I hush her trying my best to calm her. But she tries to answer.

" We were playing in the woods..." She sobs between her words and it makes me hold her tighter. "And one moment we were alone and the next some man was holding Jenna... and he said to bring Alpha Adrian and Luna Ashley to him or Jenna was going to die." She barely finishes her explanation before she breaks down into tears but her words make me freeze and at that moment I feel so cold. Jenna. Without meaning to I forcefully turn Kali towards me.

"Kali you need to tell me, what did the man look like?!" I ask, almost scream but I tried to hold back considering the situation. I feel her flinch away from me but I hold her firmly in my arms but making sure I don't hurt her. I knew she could see the urgency in my eyes and she tries her best to calm down enough to answer me but with the situation I urge her.

"Kali, you must answer me right now!" I can't help that my voice slips into a yell for a moment. Kali looks into my eyes tears threatening to fall out and I take in what I did and I quickly for Kali's sake relax my stiffened posture.

"I'm sorry but please Kali you need to tell me what he looked like it's very important," I say in a softer tone of voice which seems to work on her. Her muscles loosen my grip and she takes a deep breath in. The words that fall out of her mouth make me freeze, my eyes widen and I don't even bother to try and hide the gasp that sips through my lips. Before my mind can even process anything my legs are already in a sprint towards my destination.

I slam open the door to Adrian's office, my breath ragged coming out in short pants. Adrian and his father jump in surprise when they see me enter and in immediate alert when they notice they panic in my eyes. Adrian looks at me with confusion and concern and I watch the blood drain from his face with only two words.

"It's Jenna."
