Unique Mate

~Ashley's POV~

I wake up to a loud bang coming from downstairs. I sit up and look over to Nat who was still sleeping. I stand up and walk out of the room being as quiet as possible. I make me way down stairs and I could hear scratching and whole lot of different things I couldn't identify. I finally make it downstairs and I could feel my heart beating uncontrollably.

The sound was coming from the kitchen, I slowing walk in there and start feeling around on the wall for the light switch because  it was still pitch black. I finally find it and I flip the switch and am greeted with the sight of a girl. Vampire to be exact. She had gorgeous dirty blonde hair and red eyes. She was pretty I'll admit. She hissed at me.

" Woah calm down girly. Don't get your panties up in a knot." I say showing her that I was vampire too by making my eyes red and letting my fangs come out. She slightly calms down and stands up. 

" Why are you in this dump with those filthy mutts?" She asks disgusted. Obviously not smelling my werewolf side. When she called werewolves filthy mutts Trish growl.

" I could ask you the same thing. Why are you here?" I ask her. Trying to distract her from me.

" Getting away from Queen Karis, you know the queen of vampires. Got she's such a female dog." She said rolling her eyes, annoyed. "We have been looking for the person that killed her husband, King Jonathan. She's been looking for years, she just won't give up for all she knows that person could be dead. UGH! I ran away from her. I'm not going to kill someone I don't know." She said. It made me so annoyed at the fact that she is still out for me after all these years. Can't she just get over it.

" Understandable, what's your name?" I ask her walking over to the table taking a seat and a minute later she joins me.

" Sarah." She says. " Yours?" She asks. I thought about weather I should tell her my real name. I didn't know weather Karis told everyone my name or not. I decide not to and think of a name.

" Jasmine." I said as convincingly as possible. She nods and pulls out her hand.

" Nice to meet you, Jasmine." She says, smiling for the first time. She looked even more pretty when she smiled. She seemed like a sweet girl.

" You wanna take a walk to get to know each other?" She asks, unsure. I smiled back at her and nodded. We make our way outside and start walking in a random direction. It felt nice to finally get out of the house, I haven't been outside much and I really don't like it. We walk into the forest in complete silence. She was the one to break it.

" Do you have a mate?" She asks out of no where. I was taken back by her question a bit and I didn't know how to answer.

" I don't know." Is the best answer I have. She gives me a look of confusion.

" What do you mean you don't know? It's a yes or no question." She said.

" I mean my mate cheated on me so I don't know what to do. I can't forgive him but I don't want to reject him." I said feeling my eyes well up with hot tears ready to let them go but i hold back, I need to be strong. That was the first time I had considered rejection and at the thought both my wolf and vamp whine in protest. They hate the thought of losing their mates but they know it has to be considered. They were as heart broken as I was. I see Sarah gives a pitiful look towards me.

" Oh, I'm sorry." She said falling quiet again. I wipe my eyes because of the tear the fell. We were quiet for the next 10 minutes before it was my turn to break the silence.

" Have you found your mate?" I ask looking over to her before I regret asking because she now had tears in her eyes.

" I'm so sorry, you don't have to answer." I say quickly but she shakes her head.

" The other reason I ran away from Queen Karis is because she killed my mate after he told her that she should just give up the search and except the fact that her mate was dead." She said, her voice cracking a bit. I take in a sharp breath, Karis was ruthless.  She wouldn't come to terms with reality.

" I'm so sorry." I say pulling her into a hug. She hugged back and started sobbing in my shoulder soaking Nat's shirt, but I don't think she'll mind. She can always wash it. After a while Sarah pulls back and wipes her face with the sleeve of her dirty shirt.

" Common I'll get you a room in the house and you can stay here tonight." I say patting her back. She sniffles and looks up at me with bloodshot eyes.

" You live here?" She asks.

" Oh ya, I'm the Alpha's mate." I say shyly. She gives me a crazy look of disbelief.

" Your a vampire though. Werewolves and vampires can't be mates." She said.

" Well i'm a hybrid." I said quietly but she managed to hear me still. She stepped back a bit and looked at me with wide eyes.

" A vampire and werewolf?" She asked slowly.

" And witch." I add which made her eyes grow wider. Her eyes then filled with excitement. She reminded me of a little kid on christmas morning.

" Show me." She said in awe. I giggle and whispered something and closed one of my hand into a loose fist. With my other hand I wave it above my fist. Sarah is watching close and then I open my hand and I have a butterfly that can change colors(Above). It flew up in the air and Sarah looked at it in amazement. 

" Wanna know somethin?" I ask smiling. She nodded her head but didn't take her eyes off the butterfly that was flying above us.

" It's not real." I say. She broke her gaze from the butterfly to look at me, confusion evident on her face. She looked up back at the butterfly and tried to catch it. Her hand went right through the butterfly and she looked back at my in amazement. I could hear her whisper 'awesome' underneath her breath.

"Let's start heading back." I say as the butterfly flies away, into the forest. She looks back at me and nods and we make our way back to the pack house.
