~Conner's POV~

"Mother." I spat out with as much venom as possible but it doesn't seem to affect her at all. I get a burning sensation in my arm and I hiss looking back to see that the sun was rising. I look back to my mother and she reveals that she has another cloak, she outstretches her arm and motions to the cloak in her hand. I quickly take it from her and throw it on instantly feeling better. My posture relaxes a bit and my mother smiles at me, showing off her fangs.

" So where is that "lovely" mate of yours." She said giving me a smug look and I instantly winced at the thought of Ashley. Her heartbroken face clouds my mind making my face contort into a pained expression, at this I hear my mother give a small chuckle knowing something happened. That quickly turns my sadness into anger and I hiss at my mother, to this she rolls her eyes unaffected. I turn to walk away from my mother but within a blink of an eye she's in front of me.

" Where you headed, son?" She asked eyeing me up and down making me feel uncomfortable. I push past her and keep walking in a random direction but she was quick to keep up. In a flash she back in front of me this time roughly grabbing my shoulder.

" I'm pretty sure I asked you a question, didn't I?" She hissed at me her eyes glowing red. I try to shrug her hand off my shoulder but that just makes her grip tighten.

" I'm going away." I say in a low tone, not meeting her eyes. Once I answer her question she loosens her grip on my shoulder a little.

" Now why are you going away? Why isn't your mate with you?" She spat out the word mate with much disgust. I flinch when Ashley's face passes through my mind. I missed her so much.

" S-she r-rejected m-me." I try to say clearly but my voice fails me. I look down not wanting to see that satisfied look on my mothers face. But in that moment I didn't even need to look at my mother to know how she felt about what I just said, her laugh knocks me out of my thoughts.

" Now tell me son, why did she reject you?" She said grabbing my chin forcing me to look up at her. It took everything in me not to let the tears that so desperately wanted to come out, come out. I knew it was  none of her business in the first place but the joy that clearly shown through her eyes pissed me off.

" It was my fault, I cheated on her. Not once but twice, with the same girl. I was the one that messed everything up between us." I say angerly, bursting out information I know she didn't deserve to know.  She smiled at the fact that she clearly broke me. She tries to pull me closer to her but I pull away and this time she lets go.

" Well did you mean to do what you did?" My mother asked in a calming tone that made me want to look at her but I stayed turned around.

" N-no..." I said so quietly I'm surprised she heard me but when I felt her gently grab my arm and pull me to her I could help but let her embrace me.

" Did she even give you the chance to explain yourself?" She asked,  and the more I though about it, Ashley never did.

"No." I said, my voice a little stronger then before because of the anger that was laced in it. Ashley never gave me a chance she just jumped to conclusions and never let me explain myself. The more I thought about it the more it angered me.

" What kind of mate wouldn't let you explain yourself and let you try to apologize for what you did? She just acted so irrationally and acted without thinking!" My mothers voice gradually started to get louder and louder, anger laced through every word and the more she kept talking the more sense she made.  After a minute of silence my voice comes out.

"Y-your right, mother" I said blankly staring off into the distance. I wasn't completely in the wrong in that situation, Ashley also played a part and the more thought I put into it the more clear it got. Ashley probably never loved me at all if she was so quick to let me go. She probably only ever loved Adrian and she was just seeking for some way to get rid of me. I could feel my anger grow within me and my body started shaking. I feel my mother let me go and I walk toward a tree punching it as hard as I could, lashing out. All I could see was red and my ears were ringing so loud I couldn't hear anything. I continuously punch the tree ignoring the pain that was shooting up my arm. The next thing I know my mother was in front of me and I hadn't realized I was crying until my mother wipes my face.

" You don't need her son, you could do so much better. I know you can." My mother's soothing voice knocks me back to reality, and as I take in the words she says I know she's right. I don't need Ashley.

" Son, I need you to help me with something." My mother takes my face in her hands and makes me look at her. "We need to make that little bitch pay for all the pain she's caused us." The tone in my mother's voice hardens and I see determination swimming in my mothers red eyes. Her words held a truth to them that I couldn't deny or argue with. Ashley needed to learn that there are consequences to her action's.

" I need to know one thing." My mother lets go of my face and stands up straight. I follow her lead and my mother gives me a devilish grin.

"Are you in?"
