"Now did you enjoy it? Going to the plaza to hear the musician play their instrument?" Medusa asked Lyra as they walked back into the thick forest.
"Yes, yes I did enjoy it, it's been while since I last heard their music. My friend Gwen and I often go there to listen to the band." Medusa notice the sadness that laced Lyra's voice again upon mentioning her friend Gwen.
"Then why do you sound so sad? I thought you enjoyed it?" Lyra shakes her head and smiled again looking at Medusa even though she can't really see her.
"Nothing. Anyway I just wanted to ask you something, it's been bothering me for awhile now." Medusa leans a little closer to Lyra curious about what she wanted to ask her.
"Why did you keep me? I was an offering to you, so that you would leave the city alone, but why didn't you kill me or eat me?" Medusa raised her eyebrow.
"Eat you? I'm not a cannibal Lyra, I don't eat people I turn them to stone, and for your other questions." Medusa stops and think of a reason to answer Lyra's question, why did she keep her? Why did she want her by her side? Most people would abandoned a blind person right from the beginning of their birth, taking care of a person with disability is a hard task and even Medusa knew that as she had to keep an eye on Lyra every time so she could assure her safety.
"I honestly don't know too." She answered truthfully pulling Lyra close to her and inhaling her soft and sweet scent.
"Maybe it was because your warm, and your soft and nice, I have the Stones as my company for ages and stones are nice sure, but they don't smell nice like you, or...or feel warm and soft like you. Maybe that is why I kept you, but I feel like there's more to it than just that... I can't just put my hands on it." She heard Lyra giggle despite the furious blush on her face, Medusa felt delighted whenever she heard Lyra's giggle or laughter.
" Well I hope that you could figure it out soon, and when you do please do tell me why." Lyra said and Medusa nods her head as they continue to walk again hand in hand of course, Lyra had started to tell her about many stories she had heard from her mother, about the other unknown lands that there is.
" How come your mother know about this places?" Medusa asked curiously.
" Lady Fiona tells her about it, Lady Fiona came from a land called Algea, where six kingdoms could be found divided, one kingdom praised the sun Gods, one the moon, one the stars and the other the great bear and the sea gods, while one remained godless for century. She is Alexandra's mother, a woman said to be born with blood red hair and bright green eyes, but after giving birth to my sister she went back to where she came from, and it is my mother who raised her." Lyra explained to her, Medusa is well aware that there are other realms there and not just the city of pragma, she dream of leaving the place, of escaping from the torment of the gods, but she needs to pass by the sea, the domain of the damned god who defiled her in the temple of Athena and the reason for the cursed to placed upon her.
"I have never seen a person born with red hair before." Lyra giggle and nods her head.
"Alexandra is the only person here in Pragma born with red hair, she looks pretty much like her mother, that's what everyone told us." Medusa nods her head and she stops for a while, they are now walking of a cliff over seeing the vast sea, she stared at it for a while and smiled.
"Do you ever dream of leaving this city? And going to the unknown?" She asked Lyra who slowly face the direction of the sea. The sun is near setting but the sea looks beautiful.
"Yes, when I was a child and I still could see I dream of getting out of this place, on going into great adventures." Lyra shared, Medusa looked back at her and smiled.
" If I tell you that I'd like to explore the world, would you come with me?" She asked her, Lyra smiles and looked above, touching her chin as if she's really thinking deep and then she turn towards Medusa.
"Of course, I mean? Do I really have a choice in it?" The two of them giggles and Medusa started to pull Lyra with her starting to walk again. Their walk was filled with silence but it wasn't awkward, Lyra and Medusa would listen to the humming of the birds, Medusa would listen to the stories they sing about, the birds are like the poet for her, they tell the tales of great heroes of strong storms and of great draught that they see during their travels, Medusa would sometimes feel jealous of them, of the harpies, because they had wings and they could go wherever they want, Medusa on the other hand is forever hunted, by humans and others alike, they wanted her head, they wanted her dead, she was tormented by the curse for as long as she lives, and their were nights were she would scream to the gods above as to why didn't they just kill her, why didn't they just take her life if she was meant to live in isolation and condemnation.
"The apples in this area are sweet." But looking at Lyra, Medusa would sometimes think that maybe perhaps, in their own twisted way the gods have taken a pity on her, maybe Aphrodite took a pity on her, or maybe it was her son who took pity on her and they gave her Lyra, or was it some sort of punishment for Athena too? For the cursed that she gave her. Medusa wasn't sure about it but at least she have a friend, She has Lyra with her.
