The sun have barely risen when Medusa decided to go to the market alone to avoid the crowded market place, Lyra is still fast asleep curled into the small bed she smiled when she remembers how Lyra begged her to sleep beside her, she chuckle when Lyra said that she might woke up the next day with sore back in which Medusa had explained that she's already used to it since she used to sleep on caves.
Ones she made sure that her disguise is good enough she steps out of the room and quickly headed to the market to buy what was needed, and as expected the market was less crowded and some stall brings out their fresh products, the bakers bread is still steaming fresh from the oven it's smells delicious, she will have to buy some for Lyra later on. While she walks on the market she didn't fail to hear the ladies of the town gossips.
"Ever since the king offered her daughter to Medusa her attacked have stop and the warriors wouldn't be sent to her lair. Maybe we should have done that a long time ago." One of them said as she puts her apple on top of one another.
" The poor princess was sacrificed to that beast. She's really brave to do that, a true hero born, just like her sister Alexandra." An old man stated to his fellow old man who's playing chess early in the morning, Medusa paid no attention to them and starts buying the things she needed, she wanted to return to where Lyra is before she wakes up, she also wanted to return to the forest as soon as possible as the danger in the city is something so unpredictable. Different kind of people roam the street, sometimes you won't even know that you are talking to a criminals, or having a deal with a thief. People are dangerous, Medusa knew that, she knew that sometimes humans are worst than monster, it's very rare to find a person like Lyra, someone who's kind and caring, someone who doesn't judge people base on their past.
"Bracelets! Come and buy bracelets!" Someone shouted from the street, Medusa had finally noticed that the place is starting to get crowded, she looks at the bag she's holding and saw that she had everything she needs, she then looked at the child who's selling bracelets and trinkets, she should but some for Lyra for she knew that she would like it. She step closer to the child but before she could get closer to her someone grab the purse of gold coins she had with her.
"Cursed the gods." She cursed running after the thief, she followed him and Medusa had never met someone who could run as fast as that thief, he took a sharp turn and Medusa followed him, he would take various turns into different pathways.
"Stop there!!!" She shouted, she would turn this guy into stone once she get the chance to do so. Finally Medusa saw a dead end and she thought she would have him, but the kid stopped and she did so too, only then she noticed something amiss, the kids eyes were molten gold, she quickly removed her hood and hissed at him. No wonder he was fast even for Medusa.
"Hermes." She hissed his name, the kids smiled and bowed at her.
"The one and only fastest god on Olympus." He said with a grin before he threw the pouch of gold back to her, she caught it and looked at him.
"What do you want?" She asked him, hiding the pouch. Hermes leans against the wall and looked at her.
"Hera wanted to relay a message, she wanted to tell you to return Lyra before Athena knew she was missing, you could gain nothing with hurting the poor girl." Medusa flipped a finger at him and Hermes pretended to be hurt by it but he was actually grinning.
"I will not return her, and who said I was gonna hurt her." She asked him and he shrug.
"We just all assumed since you're Medusa the gorgon, and what do you do to people?"
"I turn them into stone Hermes I'm not beating them, because before I could they've already turned into Stones." She explained to him, ready to turn around, she didn't want to talk to him anymore, Medusa simply not care for any of them the gods are nothing to her, not even Zeus could frighten her, when it comes to fear Medusa had blocked it, and she knows that the Gods doesn't care about her anymore, after all she wasn't beautiful anymore and she is no longer a priestess.
" Hera is trying to solve this problem with less destruction Medusa. We both know what Athena can do to you." She hissed at Hermes and faced him, she removes her hood and showed her face to him, the snakes on her hissed at him.
"Oh that's ugly." He said taking a step back, Medusa ignored what her said.
"If Hera wanted to have Lyra back she would have come to me! She would have personally taken Lyra from me, she would have send lighting my way, she would have cursed me again! But her love for Lyra is false and weak! She didn't care for Lyra nor for anyone! She's a jealous wife who can't control his husband from whoring! I don't even understand why you would have to choose Zeus as your chief! When he is clearly driven by his balls! Thinking that he could rape and plunder women just because he created human! He didn't think that he created them with free minds and freewill! And what did you all do? What did Hera do? NOTHING! So don't pretend like you care! After all Lyra is a human like the one Hera had cursed! How can you say you care for human?! When you cursed and raped them! How can you say you care for humans when you watch them suffer! You gods! Hades is better than anyone of you." She said finally turning around and walking away but Hermes stood in front of her blocking her way.
" You didn't mean that. Father Zeus is the strongest among all Gods." She smirked at him and shake her head, After all what Zeus had done his son still loves him.
" Tell that to Nyx. And let's see who's the strongest." She said walking past him again, but Hermes kept on following her, Medusa feel irritated and she wished that she could turn Hermes into stone. Sucks that her power didn't come with that ability.
" Medusa, think about it. If Athena founds out about this she will have your head." She looked him in the eyes, she is threatening her, using Athena's name to instill fear in her, but Athena's name nor voice no longer can make Medusa tremble in fear. It only fuels her anger for the Goddess who betrayed her.
"Or it can be that I'm the one who will be holding her head." She put her hood back on before she left. Leaving him standing there. Medusa will not be cowed, especially when she has someone to protect from the lies of the Gods.
