Trigger warning: death, gore
Dead.
That's what that boy was.
Cash pushed to the back of the cage in horror. He watched as the blood poured from the boy's body. He shared the cage with that boy and now faced his dead body.
Cash was a human, human were pets and treated like garbage. They were sold to most giants or hid in giant's houses, living off them secretly. Either way, it sucked.
Cash had been caught a few months ago from borrowing and forced into cages to be someone's pet. He hated the sound of that.
Just a couple of minutes ago he watched as his 'roommate' struggled in a giant's palm trying to get freed. He gotten pick up by a teenage girl, and obviously didn't want to go. He fought in her palm, angering the spoiled girl. She squeezed her hand to stop his movements.
But she squeezed to hard.
Now Cash's roommate was dead.
The boy who was always here, ever since Cash had been caught. He was there. They didn't talk often, but he was good company. Always lending a arm if Cash felt more depressed than usual. Cash did the same for him.
They never exchanged names with one another. They were distant but close at the same time.
He had to cover his mouth to not let out screams. If he did so his collar would shock him. The girl stood in surprise but not guilt or remorse. She was just surprised. That's it.
The employee came over telling her it was okay. No it wasn't. He told her she still needed to pay. She blushed as he started to clean up the scene, and pick up the body tossing it away. He blushed back as they started to chat walking up to the cash register.
Cash grunted in pain. That's all his roommate's life meant. Money. Just freaking money. His death meant nothing.
Cash pressed up against the back of his cage as tears pooled out of his eyes. He try desperately to fight back screams. He so badly wanted to tell that girl off. How her anger had killed his friend.
Flashes of his own dead body started to fill his head, frightening him horribly. He closed his eyes tightly trying to push down such thoughts.
But it could've been him.
He squeezed his head in pain, as of it would stop his intrusive thoughts.

It had been a few days since the incident, and Cash was starting to wonder if his roommate had gotten lucky. He got to go to a afterlife. Get out of this world not in favor for humans. He got to be free, not scared all the time. He closed his eyes in pain, as he unconsciously hid behind items in the cage watching as more giants walked in. He did not want to face the day.
Charlie huffed as he walked into the store. There was literally no point of being here.
His parents sent the teen to pick out a human for himself. They wanted to teach him a lesson on responsibility or whatever, thinking taking care of a human would do it. His reckless behavior was getting out of hand and this is how his parents thought to deal with it.
Maybe if he had someone waiting on him hand and foot it change his attitude a bit. Make the spoil brat realize there's people who go through worse struggles than not getting the newest iPhone.
He grunted at his older brother walked in. Someone had to drive him there.
He rolled his eyes at Charlie.
