Chapter 19
"Babe!"
"Looovvveeee!" I called like a kid calling her parents. "Lucas, mahal," I called. Softly this time, but still, no response.
"What the hell happened to the connection?" Iritang tanong ko habang nakakunot ang noo.
He was still in the living room.
"Hey, Nathan." I called as I walked towards him, sitting beside him. "Can't you hear me? Is my boyfriend deaf?" sunod sunod na tanong ko sa kanya.
"No, he's not deaf. He just wants to finish reading first so he could spend his time with you tomorrow, all day— he also wants to apologize for avoiding you a while ago." he said.
Bakit ba ganito kami mag-usap? Indirect pero direct?
"May I ask why he prefers to avoid me?" I asked.
"He'll be tempted to not finish his readings today." he shyly answered.
I could help but smile, the anger in me faded. I wasn't totally mad— just sulking.
"Sorry," he whispered.
I caressed his back, "It's alright, I don't mind. Prioritize your studies before me, okay?" I reminded him.
