I walked to the familiar house later on that day. My heart is racing and I can hardly seem to concentrate, even though my expressions may say otherwise.

Taking a deep breath, I walked up the same steps I walked up one too many times before and stood in front of the door. I can't seem to reach my hand up and knock. What if the person I'm expecting to be here moved? Or isn't here at the moment and on a three day vacation?

"Oh get a grip Veronica"

My inner voice snapped at me. I never new I could be that rude.

Snapping back to reality, I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. I've never been so nervous before. I closed my eyes and continued to breathe slowly. I wish the door would open alreay.

I decided to knock again. "Maybe they didn't hear me knock the first time." I thought. I heard movement from the other side of the door. The second knock did the trick.

A few seconds later, the door opened to reveal a very shocked and happy face. I was quickly embraced with a hug. "Vernie. I missed you so much." He breathed. "I missed you too Mase...."
