1 DAY UNTIL THE SUICIDE
Well, it's Saturday and I have nothing to do. Calum is in Hawaii to visit his parents so I can't really call him.
I decide to call Charisma to see if she wanted to hang out but it says her number in unavailable.
I don't think she would give me a fake number. I mean, we've become so close since we've met. I think I just typed it in wrong.
I decide to go downstairs to watch Netflix but realize I don't have any snacks. I can't get high and watch a movie with no snacks.
"Hey, mom. I'm gonna head to the store. Do you need anything?" I ask my mom as I pick up my keys and purse by the door.
"No thanks, honey." My mom screams from the kitchen. "Actually, can you pick up ingredients for my special homemade lasagna? We are having your cousin and Aunt Libby over. There's a twenty in my purse and the recipe."
I have to hold back the urge to groan because that's going to start a long conversation that I don't want to sit through.
My cousin and My aunt are my least favorite people on Earth. They are so judgmental and they don't even try to hold back their rude remarks. It's not that hard to mind your fucking business.
"Alright." I get the money and the recipe then head out.
I take my car to the closest grocery store and debate whether I want popcorn or chips.
I end up getting neither and get a box of Cheez-Its.
I go through isle to isle looking for my mom's ingredients, but as I turn the corner, I bump into someone and we both fall on our butts. A few people run up to me and help me up and I see who I bumped into, and it was Charisma.
What a small world.
Nobody helped her up, so I did. I was actually really happy to see her.
"Hey, I'm so sorry about that." We both throw into fits of laughter but then we stop when we notice people are staring.
"It's fine. So what are you doing here?" She picks up the soda bottle she dropped.
"Picking up some stuff for my mom. What about you? Oh, you might want to exchange that bottle for a new one." We both laugh again because of our collision.
"Oh, I will and I'm just picking up some stuff for a Netflix day." She seemed slightly embarrassed as her cheeks turn a tint of pink.
"Hey, I was just about to have one of those. I tried to call you but the call never went through. I think I got your number down wrong." I smile and shake my head at my stupidity before picking up my Cheez-Its from the floor.
"Of course, you did," She teases. "Let's do it."
"Wait, really? You want to come over."
"Duh, idiot, but I still need to go pick up some stuff so how about we meet up in the front in about ten minutes?" I nod and we both go our separate ways.
I quickly grab the stuff from the recipe check it out, and make my way to the front. I wait a few minutes before I see Charisma coming through the check out lines with her bags in her hand. She only has a few.
"Ready?" She asked and I nodded.
. . .
We both rode in separate cars because she couldn't leave her's there at the store.
When we got to my house but my silly mom left the door unlocked so we just walked in.
My cousin, Alice, and my Aunt Libby were sitting in the living room.
"Hey. Where's my mom?" My aunt is over here often, constantly telling us what we need to fix in our lives so there's wasn't a need for hugging or anything. On the other hand with alice....we aren't that close. She goes to an academy so we never see much of her.
My aunt pointed to the kitchen door just as my mom walked through. She greeted me with a smile and sat on the couch next to my aunt and cousin.
"This is charisma. Do you mind if she stays the night for dinner?" The three looked at each other for a second, then back at me.
"Is she on her way?" My mom asks while taking a sip from her wine.
"No. she's right her-"
Charisma cut off my sentence by grabbing my hand and gave it a little squeeze to get my attention. "It's fine," She mumbled.
"No, no, no. I want you to meet my mom." I look back at my mom and she looks at me with an unreadable expression.
"Who are you talking to?" She begins to raise her voice.
My mom has always been so friendly with the people I bring home. It's been awhile since I have so I thought she would be more excited.
"Charisma! I just said that."
"Who? I've never heard of this 'Charisma.'" My aunt start giving my mother dirty looks, which results in her getting angry. "I don't know what you're talking about, but please knock it off," She says through her teeth.
What the fuck is going on?
I look to Charisma, but she's gone. "You scared her off."
Alice snickers and my mom glares at me. "That's enough!"
"But-"
"Go to your room, Evelyn! Now!"
"She was just here-"
"Now!" She screams.
I practically run up to my room while swearing under my breath.
My mom fucked everything up. I had one friend and now she's gone.
This is one of those moments where I feel all alone, like nobody understand me. Not even my own mom. I'm tired of always feeling so empty.
The tears haven't stopped and I finally realize what I have to do.
"No." I look to the side of my bed and Charisma is sitting on the end of it. "Don't think you will."
"Where did you go? You had me looking fucking stupid?" She ignores my question and stares at the dresser on the other side of my room. When I follow her eyes to where she is looking, I notice the bottle of pills next to my mirror. "Why do you think I won't?" I sit next to her and she grabs my hand unexpectedly.
"You really like this kid. You won't leave him."
"How do you know about that?" I pull my hand away and look at her briefly.
"I promise you'll never be lonely. So when you don't think anyone's there for you, I'll be here. You might not know it, but I'm here." She then disappears from beside me.
