"Ow! Don't touch it, it hurts, Wei Ying!". I whined as I slapped Wei Ying's hand away.
"I have to put ointment on or it'll scar, come now!". He said as he struggled with me in my room, I was sitting on my bed and he was blocking my way to escape.
"No! It'll sting!". I whined.
"Meigui, knock it off already! You're older than me, this is ridiculous!". He said in an irritated tone.
"No! It's a waste of medicine, it's not that bad that it needs ointment". I said.
"Your crazy mother hit you with jewelry on, Meigui! Why did you let her do this to you!?". He said, I stopped and looked down.
"It's not an everyday thing, she just fazes out when she's mad, she didn't mean to go that far-".
"I don't care if it was just a faze or an accident! She still hurt you for no reason! You didn't deserve that!". He retorted.
"It'll get worse if I fight back, she takes advantage when my father isn't here".
"You can't let this abuse continue Meigui! You did nothing wrong for you to be hit and marked up like this, I know she said something to you, tell me, and don't lie". He said as he held my shoulders firmly.
"She told me that if I were to drop dead, it would solve everyone's problems. It's the first time she has ever said something like that to me. Am I truly such an inconvenience?". I said with furrowed eyes.
"No, you're not!-".
"Then why do I feel this way? It's so difficult to maintain self-control around her. I'm scared that she's pushing me to the edge on purpose, as if she wants to provoke me and reveal a dangerous side she believes I have-".
"Don't say that! You're not dangerous to anyone nor do you deserve to die! She may not grasp everything about you, but I certainly do.!". He spoke.
"What do you know...".
"More than her! If I considered you dangerous or a nuisance, I wouldn't be here or anywhere near you, or anyone for that matter.". He argued.
"That's because half of them don't know what I really do, including you, Wei Ying". I said.
"I don't care about that, Meigui, and it won't bother me at all if I knew". He said before he pulled me up.
"I'm guessing your father and Madame Yu told you the news? Soon when we're old enough, you'll be all mine!". He said cheerfully, I blushed.
"Don't say stuff like that so loud! Others will hear! Have you no shame!?".
"Good! Let them hear!". He said with a sly smile, I pouted.
'It's so cute when she pouts'. He thought in humor as he pulled me into a hug.
"Wei Ying!". I whined.
"Meigui, don't take her words to heart; they're insignificant. Remember, you matter—a lot. Maybe not to the world, but definitely to me, alright?". He said as he held me tighter, I slowly hugged him back and did a small hum.
"Do the others know?". I asked still a bit flustered by the whole situation of us being engaged when it's only been a few weeks, he hummed.
"Nope, they want to keep it hidden for now so no talkies". He said, I giggled.
"Now, for my revenge!". He said playfully before he tackled me onto the bed, I gasped.
"Wei Ying! Shameless!".

"Father! Father! Father! Father!". I called as I barged into his room, he was sitting calmly at his desk while drinking tea.
"Yes, Meigui?". He asked calmly, not at all fazed, I put my hands on my knees as I caught my breath.

"Are you alright now?". He asked calmly, I took a deep breath before standing upright.
"Yes!". I said before sitting next to him with my book in hand.
"What is it?". He asked again.
"I think I've found a way to tap into a fierce corpse's mind! One of the books gave me an idea! Look! Look!". I said excitedly as I placed the book in his lap, he gave me his cup which I drank from, and he picked up the book a read what I wrote.
"Impressive, have you tested it out yet?". He asked as he continued to read my notes.
"Nope! Can I!?". I asked with hope, he hummed as he turned the page.
"I don't see why not, Baihe Dong will go with you-".
"Whaaa!? My sisters can't come too!?". I whined as I hugged his arm.
"No, you know how your mother is already about your cultivation and engagement, let's not make it worse". He said.
"Worse how!? My sisters won't say anything! Father!". I whined.
"Whether you like it or not, they're not going anywhere.". He said, not giving in, I groaned, and I laid myself on his lap.
"Fiiiine!". I said with a pout, I felt him run his fingers through my hair like he used to do when I was younger, he's doing it out of habit.
"I believe you're onto something here, Meigui. You can't allow distractions to interfere, as they might be affected by your cultivation, and I know you wouldn't want that.". He said.
"But I don't want them to think I'm neglecting them or pushing them aside because of it". I said.
"They'll understand, Meigui, this experiment is very important, and they mustn't be involved". He said.
"Engaging in Dark Cultivation is no laughing matter, Meigui. It can seriously affect your health and mental well-being. Remember, you are different from them". He scolded firmly, I closed my eyes.
"I know father, I understand". I said.
"As long as you comprehend and approach this with seriousness, I will not be concerned about the outcomes or your safe return.". He said.
"When do you wish for me to leave? Sect Leader Jiang and from Lan Sect are still here". I said.
"It's alright, just say goodbye to Wei Wuxian and leave the rest to me". He said.
"You mean-".
"Yes, now". He said, I opened my eyes and looked at him.
"It's kind of sudden, don't you think?". I asked in surprise as I sat up, he closed the book.
"I need progress on your abilities and gain better control, this can't wait, Baihe Meigui. You'll go now!". He said firmly, I looked down.
"Ok Father, I'll get ready now and let Baihe Dong know". I said as he handed me back my book, he doesn't like being firm with me but it's the only way that I'll listen.
