Meigui pov

1 month later

I hummed softly as I quietly read a book I found among my things. I hadn't even realized I had it. The book contains information about my cultivation which caught my attention. There are some interesting topics here that I can learn on my own to understand my abilities better. I haven't told my father yet, but I will when I'm done reading.

"Meigui, they have arrived; your mother is summoning you". Baihe Dōng said as he walked in and stood away with his hands behind his back.

"Are they here, here? or just step foot into town and on their way here?". I asked as I continued reading.

"Step foot, but-".

"I got another 5 minutes to read, they can wait". I spoke.

"Meigui-".

"5 minutes isn't going to kill her! She's lucky I'm even showing up!". I said in a moody tone, he sighed.

"Please be on your best behavior today, your father expects it". He said.

"I understand the significance of my father's title, so I will make an effort to behave appropriately this time. It's the least I can do to show my gratitude for the opportunity he has given me to make amends". I said as I turned the page, he looked at the book.

"What are you reading? A book from Magnolia?". He asked.

"I'm not sure how it happened, but I discovered it among my things, although I don't remember purchasing it. In fact, there were a few items among my belongings that I don't recall packing". I said, he stepped forward.

"May I?". He said as he motioned to the book, I sighed as I handed it to him, he read a page and then frowned.

"Meigui-".

"I'm just reading it! Once I'm finished, I'll pass it on to Father, and you can keep it while I'm not using it". I spoke.

"It's intriguing to encounter something that mirrors your capabilities, especially those you're still mastering. Show me the others". He said as he closed the book, I rolled my eyes as I stood up and followed me to my room.

"It's on the bed". I said, motioning it to my bed, he stepped in and looked at the items.

"More books, and a pendant, sealed no less". He spoke.

"And you don't remember buying them?". He asked as he looked at the book more.

"Nope, I'm just as clueless as you are, they just showed up out of nowhere. It is strange though, it's all related to my cultivation". I said, he hummed.

"Don't touch any of this, the book is fine since I don't sense anything bad but that's all, I'll come and collect it later and give it to your father for further investigation". He said as he handed me back the book.

"Alright". I replied with a groan as I put the book away.

"Let's get moving; the five minutes are nearly over". He said, I grumbled under my breath.

"Fine, let's go". I said before we left my room, I secured it with a seal lock to deter anyone from sneaking in during my absence. As we approached, I noticed my mother's maids attempting to intercept me for a wardrobe change she had arranged, but I skillfully evaded them. Upon reaching the dining hall, I observed my father arriving just then as well.

"Father!". I called out as I jogged to him, he looked.

"So, you've just arrived yourself? It seems you truly are my daughter". He said in humor, I chuckled as I stopped in front of him.
