A few weeks later
Meigui's pov
When we arrived back at Lotus Pier, I was in awe by the place, it has such a peaceful aura, I could even smell Lotus's in the air as we got closer, Yanli and Baihe Dong were there to greet us and she was surprised and happy to see me with them, she even held my hand during the whole way back and spoke with a happy smile.
Things were a little tense with Madam Yu and Sect Leader Jiang about Wei Ying which I knew bothered him, but I couldn't step in because it wasn't my place to do so but what others couldn't see was the care and worry she held in her eyes, but I could tell a part of her disliked Wei Ying.
"How were your studies? I heard that you exceeded Lan Qiren's expectations in Cloud Recesses". Yanli asked softly as we sat in the garden and drank tea, Baihe Dong was standing a bit away for privacy.
"A bit difficult, my sisters always got into trouble, mostly Li with her temper so I was mostly punished along with them than studying". I said plainly.
"Why you though? Is it because you're their senior? I heard that's a rule but didn't quite understand it". She said worriedly.
"The first rule we learn as seniors upon advancing in rank is that we are accountable for our juniors. It's our duty to instruct them in matters of right and wrong, as well as discipline. Should they misbehave in any way, we too face consequences for failing to guide and maintain their conduct. As the sole senior of my sect, I bore the full brunt of punishment for their misdeeds". I said.
"I don't find that very fair for you, punishment after punishment almost daily, A-Xian said they do mostly bashings than writings, I could tell it upsets him at the very thought of you getting hurt for someone else's mistakes". She said with a frown.
"It depends on what they did and how bad it was, the most troubled one was of course Li". I said.
"Who's in charge of them now?". She asked.
"Xinga is, Li returned home to finish her studies and not cause more trouble or shame to our sect. There's no doubt that she'll get punished at home". I said before I took a sip from my cup.
"Is it worse than Lan Sect?". She asked.
"As I said, it depends on what she did and how much trouble she caused. Her short temper is concerning, she picked it up from my mother and it's not easily tamed. I'm surprised she still listens to me". I explained.
"What about Baihe Li and A-Cheng? Any progress?". She asked.
"She does hurt him with her temper, and even though I scolded her, it didn't seem to make much of a difference. Jiang Cheng really wants to see her kinder side, but she's difficult to understand. She interprets his compliments as insults, which isn't great. I hesitate to call her toxic, but her temper and perspective on things are quite worrying and show a lack of maturity". I said, her eyebrows furrowed.
"Imagine my mother and Baihe Li arguing, it would be a nightmare". She said.
"I know, that's why I'm worried about their relationship, in my opinion, I think they should take a break and look for other options". I said, she looked at me.
"You mean, see someone else!?". She asked in surprise.
"Indeed, it's a test to determine their true commitment to resolving issues; if not, then the relationship is untenable. I'm concerned that Jiang Cheng may adopt her negative attitude, which I don't want. It was apparent that her words wounded him, and her refusal to contribute effort to their relationship is troubling". I said, she hummed as she looked down.
