CARRIE HAD GONE TO HER room almost immediately that night. She didn't say anything to her parents before she slammed the door shut behind her.

She radiated fury from the fight with Lucas. She wasn't as angry with him as she was with herself. She had let her anger get the best of her, and she was terrified that Lucas was never going to forgive her.

She clung to Barb's pillow that she had kept in her room to hug as she fell asleep. Having the scent of her older sister waft around her helped calm Carrie's emotions and ceased the constant thoughts plaguing her head.

She had hardly slept that night, however, even with the pillow. She couldn't stop thinking about her fight with Lucas. As she tossed and turned in her bed, the angrier and more disappointed in herself she became.

Carrie had decided that the next day she would apologize to him to amend their friendship. She was none the wiser that her optimistic thoughts were far from reality.

THE CHILLY WIND WHIPPED AT her face as she biked towards the Sinclair residence. When she noticed Mike and Dustin outside of the former's house, she turned her bike towards the two and peddled off in their direction.

They were surprised to see her biking towards them. The Holland girl was always the last after a fight to admit her wrongdoings. Her setting her pride to the side to apologize to Lucas was quite out of character for the young girl.

The two boys made sure to stay out of her way as she rapped her fist on the front door. She stood with her arms crossed in front of her and waited impatiently before Lucas opened the door with a glare on his face.

"What do you want?" he spat out. No one said anything as the two held eye contact. Her blue eyes dropped to the ground in shameful defeat.

"I drew first blood, so..." She stuck her hand out in front of him. Lucas glanced down at the hand in front of him with an uninterested look before walking inside. Carrie followed after him, continuing her speech which she had forgotten half of on the way to the house.

"With everything that has been going on, especially with Barb and not knowing where she is or anything, I-" she trailed off, sniffling slightly, "I'm not in the right frame of mind. I'm lashing out and my emotions are a wreck. I'm so sorry, Lucas. Please forgive me."

Lucas paced back and forth, deep in thought. He squinted his eyes before turning to face his friends.

"Okay, I'll shake." He took his hands out of his front pockets before crossing them in front of his chest. Carrie stuck her hand out with a smile, but Lucas quickly added, "On one condition. We forget the weirdo and go straight to the gate."

"Then the deal's off!" Carrie shouted, moving her hand away from the Sinclair boy. Her face flushed red with anger.

"Fine!"

"Fine!" Mike shook his head at the two, while Dustin, on the other hand, grew angry.

"No, no, not fine!" he shouted at the two. "Guys, seriously? Do you even remember what happened on the Bloodstone Pass?" Mike looked over at Carrie in confusion as Lucas furrowed his eyebrows. The Holland girl shrugged her shoulders at Mike as she, too, forgot.

Dustin sighed, "We couldn't agree on what path to take, so we split up the party, and those trolls took us out one by one. And it all went to shit. And we were all disabled!" He threw his arms out as he spoke. "So we stick together, no matter what!"

"Yeah, I agree. But this is the party, right here," Lucas said, as he gestured to the four of them.

"El is one of us now!" Mike argued back, taking Carrie's side.

"Um, no, she's not. Not even close! Never will be. She's a liar and traitor—"

"Eleven was just trying to keep us safe!" interrupted Mike. "She didn't mean to hurt you. It was an accident!"

"An accident?" repeated Lucas with a scoff.

"All right, accident or not... admit it, it was a little awesome," Dustin said.

"Awesome?"

"Yeah, she threw you in the air with her mind!" exclaimed Dustin with wide eyes.

"I could have been killed!"

"Which is exactly why we need her. She's a weapon!" Carrie declared. She thought of Eleven as much more than just a weapon, but she was trying to convince Lucas; she knew that by doing that, she would have to have his mindset. "Do you seriously wanna fight the Demogorgon with your wrist rocket? That's like R2-D2 going to fight Darth Vader. We're no use to Will if we're dead."

Lucas looked between all of his friends, breathing heavily as he tried to control the anger inside of him.

"If you three wanna waste your time looking for a traitor, go ahead, 'cause I'm not spending my time on her anymore. No way!" He brushed his finger under his nose before adding, "I'm going to the gate. I'm gonna find Will." He shoved his way past Mike and Carrie, making sure to shove her harder.

She let out a sniff, attracting the attention of the boys. Tears started to fall down her cheeks, and she quickly wiped them before walking towards the front door.

She stormed out of the house with angry tears streaming down her face.

"Have fun dying, shithead," she grumbled under her breath as she mounted her bike and rode away from the boys who were calling after her.
