CARRIE AND ELEVEN ARRIVED AT the Wheeler house in silence. Neither of the two had spoken during the ride there. While Eleven didn't know what to say, Carrie was too caught up in her own thoughts to scold Eleven for leading the group on and believing that Will was okay.

But he wasn't. He was dead. And she lied to them.

She parked her bike outside of the basement door and waited for Eleven to get off before she swung her leg over and put the kickstand down. Hoping that Mike was in the basement, she knocked on the door.

Seconds had passed before the door unlocked from the other side and it swung open, revealing Mike with bloodshot eyes from crying. He quickly tried to wipe his tears away at the sight of Carrie before letting her and Eleven in. He didn't want El to be in his house at that moment, but he also knew that Carrie wouldn't want him to leave her on her own.

Eleven made her way towards her tent and sat down underneath all the blankets. Mike walked back over to the couch where he was looking through Will's drawings of the party, with Carrie following behind him. She sat down beside him and glanced over at the papers in his hands.

She took her long, wet hair and tied it up so that it was no longer touching her neck and back. Mike's face flushed when she placed her chin on his shoulder so she could get a better look. He inhaled, mentally scolding himself for getting flustered around his crush at a time like this. His best friend died.

The Holland girl smiled softly at the sight of the beautiful crayon drawings of the beasts from Dungeons and Dragons. She loved watching the boy draw. He was always so invested in whatever imaginative thought he was delicately scribbling onto a piece of paper.

The constant static that resonated from the makeshift tent irked Mike. Eleven had grabbed his suppercom and started messing with it once again. He grew annoyed with the sound, as well as the young girl. Him and Carrie trusted her, and she broke that trust. He looked up from the drawings and glared in her direction.

"Can you please stop that?" Mike asked her with a hard voice. Eleven turned the supercom off, and the room grew silent. Carrie lifted her head up and turned to face the brunette. After a moment of silence, she went back to fiddling with the buttons.
