Ruby was sitting in class writing down notes from history tapping her fingers on the desk in a rhythm. Next to her was Eloise who was on her phone texting one of her friends. She found it kind of strange that the other girl was texting her friends instead of taking notes.
Ranboo was sitting on the other side of the classroom not understanding what was going on. But he didn't want to ask the teacher since he would tell him that he should ask the person who was sitting next to him.
Normally it was Ruby but today she decided to sit next to Eloise who Ranboo didn't like very much but we don't need to get into detail.
He kept sending glances at her hoping they would feel his eyes staring into her soul. About five minutes later Ruby looked at him confused why he was staring. He took his chances quickly signing that she should be careful around Eloise who luckily couldn't speak sign language.
"Why she seems nice" she signed at him seeing him sigh.
"I'll tell you after school" he continued with his work leaving her still thinking what he meant. What was with her? Was she a bad person? No, she couldn't be she was so nice to her on the first day.
"Are you good? You have been staring awfully long at this weirdo" Eloise put her hand on their shoulder snapping them out of the trance.
"Sorry I just zoned out I guess" he got back to writing down the things the teacher was telling. Eloise sighed going back to messaging her friend.
The bell rung telling her the lesson was over so she packed her things waiting for Eloise to pack her things. What she didn't see was Ranboo standing outside of the class waiting for her.
"You don't need to wait for me I'll see you tomorrow" Eloise walked out leaving RUby standing there by herself. They walked out on their way to her bike but got pulled back by someone which made her let out a small shriek.
"Hey it's just me" she sighed in relief turning around to face her best friend.
"You twat never scare me like that again" he held up his hands in defence walking next to her as they walked out of the school.
"I told you I would tell you everything about Eloise" they rolled their eyes sitting down on the bike as he followed her holding his skateboard in his arms.
"Where do you want to talk because my dad is home and we need to let the door open which isn't especially private" Ranboo nodded respecting the answer thinking about where they could go. It would be hard to explain why there was streaming set up in his room without telling her the truth.
"We could take a walk at the beach?" he questioned unsure what her answer would be. A small smile appeared on their face telling him she would say yes to the request.
Ruby nodded sitting down on her bike driving down the road. He quickly put the board on the street driving after her.
Ranboo caught up after some minutes enjoying the wind that was blown into his face. He felt peaceful, not stressed about streaming, not scared of telling Ruby about it and most importantly not worrying about someone recognizing him.
The person in front of him had a small smile on her face obviously also enjoying the wind blowing against her face. Her red hair was being blown back some strands blocking her eyesight.
In the distance were the waves heard crashing against the shore. Ruby started to speed up leaving him no other choice than to speed up too rolling down the street fast.
They parked their bike at the bike stand locking it. Ranboo was already standing next to her waiting for them to take the walk.
She took off her shoes walking in the sand the cold water making her feet and skirt wet. He walked up to her trying not to get his shoes wet since the water would come thru.
They walked at the beach appreciating the other one's presence. It was silent yet it was comforting to both of them. It wasn't the silence she would hear when she took out her hearing aid. It was the silence she could find comfort in. It was the silence she enjoyed after a long day. It was the silence where no words were unspoken.
At some point, she stopped in her steps kneeling down and taking a stone that was buried in the sand. They ran up to their friend excited to show them the crystal they found.
"Look Ran it's Rose quartz!" Ruby told him excitedly holding it up to his face like a small child that just found a toy they had lost a long time ago.
"I don't know what it does but it is really pretty," he said surprised as she took his hand from his side putting it into his palm closing it.
"It's yours I have many at home and I would feel bad if I didn't give you anything back after you bought me food the last time" Instead of arguing with her he said a simple thank you putting it into the pocket of his jacket.
From his sight, it was just a rock like every other but he knew it meant to Ruby a lot. He had a lot of small things that she gave him over the weeks they were friends like a flower that he put in a book so he could keep them or crystals like this.
Ruby had run off again looking for other things she would find pretty or odd to take with her. The smile on her face had never left it bringing a small one on the boy's face who was walking next to her some meters away.
They spend the rest of the afternoon at the beach forgetting the time and also the reason why they actually went there in the first place.
