Ruby was pacing around the kitchen nervously waiting for Ranboo to finally arrive. She hated this feeling in her stomach telling her that the woman who was going out with her father wasn't that nice.

The ringing of the doorbell snapped her out of the thoughts. She quickly ran to the door and opened it to see her best friend standing there with a jumper in his hand.

"That was the only grandpa pullover I could find. And you are lucky that my grandpa bought it for me" he gave them the jumper so they put it on immediately. It was very comfy and warm calming her nerves a bit. But only a tiny bit.

They wrapped their arms around Ranboo's torso needing his comfort to calm down completely. He of course knew that and wrapped his arms around her body, hugging it tightly. At this point, it was a daily routine for them to at least hug for five minutes a day.

They let go of each other him taking off his shoes and sitting down in the living room where Ruby and Flora were sitting. Flora was looking at him trying to remember where she saw him.

"Aren't you Elena's brother?" she asked getting a small nod as he looked around the room.

The front door unlocked two laughing people walking in. It was their father and the woman who they learned to be Kate. She had long blonde hair, blue eyes and was rather short going to her father's shoulder.

The woman walked up to Ruby hugging her tightly without asking making her feel uncomfortable. They loved hugs but not if it was from a stranger who didn't even care to ask.

"You must be Ruby your father told me great things about you and your sister where is she?" Flora was standing behind Ranboo trying not to be seen by the woman who looked around the room searching for her.

He moved to the side as Flora send him a glare and flipped him off as she got hugged by the female. He simply smiled at her walking to Ruby who was looking at him with puppy eyes wanting him to be next to her.

"And who are you boy because Robert didn't tell me about you" the short person stood in front of him making him look down at her.

"I'm Ruby's best friend" he scratched the back of his neck Kate nodding walking away from them sitting down at the table next to Ruby's father. The best friends sat down next to each other on the opposite side of the adults.

"So Rudy how was the sleepover with my daughter?" Ruby looked at the floor in embarrassment as Ranboo simply gulped.

"It was very cool we played Video games" he didn't want to tell him the entire truth feeling nervous about his reaction to it.

"No other things?" he asked in a serious tone getting a look from Ruby. Before he could even say a word she started talking answering her father's question.

"Dad it was a normal sleepover like when I was at Stella's house and Tommy was home too just two friends playing Video games and talking"  he nodded standing up to get the food from the kitchen behind them.

The father put the food in front of them sitting down eating the food without another word spoken. Kate just kept sending glances at Ruby confusing her why she was doing it. The look on the woman's face wasn't that friendly it was more of the annoying kind of way.

What did she do? Why was Kate looking at her so annoyed? Was she too mean to her father?

With those questions swarming around her head, she didn't notice Ranboo putting his hand on top of hers noticing her not here completely her look being rather sad than her normal happy smile.

When they snapped out of it her took his hand on his side again eating his food as well. Ruby ate her food slowly not being able to eat faster since her mind was filled with many thoughts keeping her from doing so.

"Kate where did you meet my dad?" their younger sister asked trying to lose up the tension in the room.

"We met at work your father accidentally walked in on me changing out of my work clothes" the man got a bit red in the face getting a disgusted look from Flora who knew what was going on inside his head.

"What else happened?" Flora asked, interested in figuring out if she was right with her assumption. The adults looked at each other Robert shaking his head telling her not to tell. Kate just nodded trying to find an excuse.

"He just apologized and I asked for his number after I changed" the woman answered sounding very convincing to the children who were sitting at the table. Robert let out the air he was holding in going back to drinking his glass of wine.

The two friends were sitting in Ruby's room watching one of the Disney movies they had on their list. Some days ago they decided to make a list of sad movies to watch together and who cried first had to buy the other one something. On the list was today the movie Wall-e which was one of Ruby's favourites. Well, nearly every film was their favourite.

It was hard to keep her tears in but it was just to see him finally cry after the first three movies to which she had cried needing to buy him new glasses, a Hawaiian shirt and something from chipotle.

Next to her sat a boy tears in his eyes slowly running down his face as he tried not to let out a sniffle. Ruby looked at him seeing the tears that were streaming down his skin making her feel kind of bad for being a bit happy about it.

"Do you want a hug or something to drink?" he just nodded making them assume he wanted both of them. They walked out of the room closing the door getting a glass of water from the kitchen where a woman was standing smoking a cigarette.

"Kate could you please smoke outside the smoke triggers Flora's asthma and I really don't want her to have an asthma attack" the blonde woman rolled her eyes smiling at them sarcastically as they took a bottle out of the fridge.

"Look I won't let me tell what to do from a little deaf girl who is the daughter of the man I love" she put out the cigarette in the ashtray walking away from Ruby. They sighed walking back into their room seeing the boy looking at the screen crying.

"Here's your water" he took the water from her taking a sip feeling a lot better after doing so. She sat down next to him so her hand was touching his hugging him, him putting his head on her shoulder.

"What did it take so long?" he looked up at her hearing the sigh she let out.

"I met Kate on the way we just talked for a bit" she gave him a reassuring smile trying not to make him worry. They would lie if they said it didn't hurt to be called 'a deaf little girl' when he only tried to explain about her sister's disease. But at the end who cared about something like that coming out of her mouth.
