Spars and Secrets

Today would prove to be a good source of information for Izuku. Class 1A was being taught by Aizawa on the PE Grounds, training for the upcoming, world renowned, UA sports festival.

"Mr. Aizawa, why are we training with you today instead of All Might as usual?" Sero spoke up. "Today we will be focusing in quirkless hand to hand combat, since you may have to rely on it if you don't want to expose everything about your quirks during the sports festival tomorrow." Aizawa explained, eyeing the way Izuku's eyes lit up at the mention of quirkless hand to hand combat. Izuku was far from skilled in hand to hand combat, but he was a lot more muscular thanks to the efforts he put in gathering supplies for his support gear. He also indulged in sparring with Shigaraki in the past, what can he say, he was sick of not being able to defend himself. "Mr. Aizawa? Could I spar with the class? I've found it's helpful to analyze someone as their opponent." Izuku asked, hopefully the Erasure hero would allow it. "You don't have any proper training that I know of, can you hold your own?" Aizawa said, not in a quirkist way, Izuku noted the worry in his tone. "I could demonstrate what I can do for you to judge?" Aizawa nodded, allowing Izuku to grab Katsuki, who looked a little shocked, and drag him on to a mat. "Okay rules are, no quirk or support gear usage, and if you get knocked to the floor for over 5 seconds you're out." Aizawa explained. The rest of the class listened to the instructions, looking concerned about the pair that was going to fight. Aizawa nodded his head, gesturing them to begin.

Katsuki immediately went for a right hook, predictable, but at least he wasn't holding back. Izuku grabbed the incoming arm, shifting his weight before flipping Katsuki over, slamming him onto the mat. Taking advantage of the fact that he had the wind knocked out of him, Izuku straddled Katsuki, successfully pinning him to the mat. 5 seconds. He got up, offering a hand to Katsuki, a memory of the past flashing through his mind, this time he took it. "Just like you to have memorized my starting moves, you really are a nerd." Katsuki said, earning him an elbow to the ribs from Izuku. The class couldn't decide whether to be shocked about the move Izuku pulled, or the strange vibe the two childhood friends had. "Good job Midoriya I'll allow you to spar. Bakugou, you had good form, it would've been a good hit." Aizawa said, turning his attention to pair students together.

Izuku reviewed the pairings. He honestly didn't know a lot of these names, including the people he was paired with. The boy with lavender hair who saved his ass the other day walked up to him, "You look confused. I'm Shinsou, we will be sparring." Izuku lit up, first he had to that Shinsou for what he did the other day, then spar, and hopefully ask what his quirk is! "Hey, Shinsou. Sorry I didn't catch your name until now, I wanted to thank you for what you did the other day." Shinsou got into position, "I didn't do much, just what I wish someone did for me." Shinsou lept towards Izuku, taking advantage at the moment of confusion the greenette had at the cryptic response from Shinsou. Unfortunately for Shinsou, Izuku had fast reflexes, jumping out of the way before the lavender haired boy could touch him. Shinsou showed obvious signs or prior hand to hand combat. The way he spun on his heels swiftly, changing his momentum while still moving with fluidity. Izuku dodged a skillfully aimed jab, catching Shinsou's elbow, twisting behind the lavender-haired boy's back, pushing him onto the floor. 5 seconds, and release. "You're really skilled at quirkless sparring!" Izuku exclaimed, helping the boy up off the floor. Shinsou hesitated before talking, "I kind of have to be, my quirk is mental, so I can't rely on it in combat like the others." Izuku nodded in comprehension. "I can't imagine how difficult the entrance exam was, that shit is always rigged in favor of those with physical quirks." Izuku said, practically spitting the last part. Shinsou nodded in agreement, "It was rigged. Huge robots for the practical. I only got in because I managed to steal points by going after already damaged robots and I got rescue points for helping someone out." Izuku nodded solemnly, he had a feeling that's what the test consisted of. "Your tactic was logical, I'm glad UA isn't as quirkist as some schools." Shinsou nodded in agreement, their conversation cut off afterwards by the announcement to switch sparring partners. Izuku shot Shinsou a small smile, before heading to Aizawa to find out who Todoroki was. Aizawa pointed to the boy with split-colored hair.
