Sleep deprivation

Flugs never been a stranger to sleep deprivation, for as long as he can remember he's always had trouble sleeping,
as a kid he was always busy at night, trying to distract himself, staying up late tinkering with something or taking things apart and putting them back together to make something new, he's never been one to rest easy knowing he's wasting precious time.

That's why as an adult he thought he would've been use to it, but the constant cycle of no sleep and too much coffee can only take you so far.
He's always been proud of how resilient he is, he's able to work for days at a time with no food or sleep and still be able to keep his mind clear and focused,
but, no matter how sharp your mind might be, your body will still fall weak from the  neglect it has endured.

That's where flug was now.
After days of no food or sleep he was so close to being finished with this new project he was working on.
Usually he would be kinder on his body, but this was no ordinary commission he was working on for some low level villain,
this was an idea that came straight from the top!
His boss black hat himself!
It was quite the clever contraption he must admit!
He wanted a "fear bomb" of sorts,

Flugs wasn't sure how one would accomplish something so grand,
after many hours thinking it over, he figured out exactly how he would do it.

It would be a concoction that would bypass the amygdala in your brain and make you feel fear that couldn't be rationalized.
In other words, a sort of bio weapon, that when used correctly will cause the person to feel fear so intense and so primal that their instincts will force them to reject rationality and thus causing them to go insane.
Since this particular bio weapon didn't depend on the amygdala, thus "human" emotions,
You don't have to rely on full sentience to get the desired results, meaning that even creatures without a limbic system could be effectied.
Humans, animals, hell even plants and crops could be completely devastated by this.
It would be completely catastrophic, borderline apocalyptic if he managed to make this.
Which is exactly what he was hoping for.

Realized he's been lost in his thoughts way too long he snapped out of his evil thoughts.

He parted from his thoughts and fixed his posture, he was sitting in that same position for way longer than he thought.
He raised his arms to stretch his back, resulting in multiple pops, he winced at the stiffness and ache of his back before returning to his slouched position.
He moved his neck side to side hoping to relieve some of the stiffness,
It didn't help much.

He looked over at the various scrambled papers on his desk, and he noticed that his vision was getting blurry from the lack of sleep.
honestly, he had no idea what time it even was.
he tried to look at the clock that was hanging on the wall on the other side of his lab, but he couldn't read it from where he was sitting.

He groaned as he stuck his hand under the bag covering his face, rubbing the part of his nose that was between his furrowed brows.
Exactly how long was he even down here?
From the emptiness of his stomach he guesses it's probably been about three days.

Not that it really matters he's so close now,
He yawns and gives his sore back one more stretch before returning to his work.
He figured it's about time for another cup of coffee.

All he needs to do is combine part A & B of his solutions and wait for a bit,
then the concoction should be safe enough for testing.
Part B was the stabilization & the activator, adding too much would actively turn the whole salution into water,
It would also probably cause quite the reaction and possibly explode from the sudden change in chemical compound.

Part A is nothing more than a simple acid.
But together, he's hoping to get his desired salution.

Three days of work rides on him getting this right, not to mention that he stupidity decided to not make more than one, he slightly regrets not making more, but the process would've taken double the time if he had made more than one.

Well, it doesn't matter, it's not like he would screw this up in the first place.

He glances over his notes one more time, double checking that his calculations are correct.
He then takes a deep breath before grabbing a pipette,
He fills it with the liquid from beaker cleverly labeled "B",
He then puts the carefully calculated amount into beaker A,

He carefully moved his hands away from the beakers and nervously watches beaker "A" for any sort of reaction.
Nothing.
He sighs and relaxes, his shoulder slumping in the process.

It's going to take a while to stabilize with the amount he put in, but better safe than sorry.

He yawns again, tiredness and soreness taking over his body.
He starts thinking again to distract himself.

This should be a while, I might be able to grab a cup of coffee and get back before it even starts doing anything.

He nervously glances at the beakers.

Yeah...
Nothing yet, I'll just be quick.

He pushed himself away from the desk and stands up maybe a bit too quickly,
His vision goes dark for a second as he feels extremely woozy from the sudden movement, he swiftly grabs onto his desk to keep himself from falling over.

He rest his face in his hand keeping one on the desk for good measure, he rubs his face to wake himself up a bit before standing up and straighten out.

His heads killing him,
Maybe literally at this point.
But he's so close to finishing, no point in giving up now.
He shakily makes his way twords the other side of his labs, where he keeps his coffee pot and such.

At one point it was a mini kitchen, but all he ever uses is the coffee pot.
The mini fridge has only a few water bottles in it, and the table that was supposed to be use for preparing quick meals is completely littered with half empty water bottles and coffee stained mugs.
There's also a microwave, but all he uses it for is to reheat old coffee when he gets to lazy to make a fresh pot.

Lucky for him, there's still a cups worth of coffee in his pot.
He grabs a mug from the table, stares at it for a while to see if it's clean, but his blurry eyes don't help much,
He shrugs a little bit before he decides it's probably fine.
He fills it with the last remaining cup of coffee from the pot.

He lift his bag up a little bit, allowing him access to the only thing keeping him alive at this point.
He would usually use a straw to drink anything, but he was far too tired to look around for one.

He sighs in relief as he sips on his slightly above room temperature coffee.
He stretch's his neck out in a feeble attempt to not feel as physically awful as he does.

He makes his way towards his desk with the beakers on it taking his cup of coffee with him.
He sits down tries to get in a comfortable position.
He tries to focus his eyes on the two solutions infront of him.
No difference.

Wait...
Did i decide to get coffee before? or after i mixed the solutions together?

He stared at beaker "A" to see if there was anything that would make him think he already added part B,
He stared for a good while,
Nothing...

I'm pretty sure I would've remembered added part B if i did...
He said to no one in particular, mostly trying to convince himself.

He looked at his pipette, dry.

He pondered on it for a bit,
Well, i must've not added it yet.
He stated in false confidence.

He grabbed his notes,
I don't see any notes to myself saying i did add it.
He signed to himself,
Well, let's get this over with.

He grabbed his trusty pipette and filled it with solution B,
He glanced at his notes, double checking his calculations.
Wait, why do I have a sense of deja vu?
He just shrugged it off, shaking his head,
No, I'm just tired.

He dropped the few drops he needed into beaker A,

Immediately it started bubbling like crazy,
Black smoke started forming and he could feel a sudden wave of heat emitting from it.

Shi-

A loud bang could be heard throughout the entire manor, the entire building shaking violently.
Black smoke filling the entire bottom floor, leaking into the rest of the estate.
