I flip the letter over in my hands a few times, looking for any sort of indication that this thing might be a trap in someway.
I look back at demencia, unsure.
She tilts her head to the side and shrugs."Who's it from?" She asks as she cautiously walks towards me, I suppose my reaction must've worried her.
Without saying anything, I flip the letter to the back and hold it up, showing her the wax seal. She blinks at it a few times.
"ooooo, that's bad." She says quietly."Yeah..." I say, staring at it.
I throw it back into the hole it came from, and it lands in the dirt.
"Some things are better left alone." I say walking away."Wait, no!" She says as she scrambles to pick it up,
She runs to catch up, and blocks the way in front of me. "What if this is something important??"
I raise a brow at her, surprised by her reaction.
"Whatever it is that's in that letter, It's guaranteed to make our life's way more complicated then it already is. 'important' or not, I do not have the time nor the patience to deal with it."
I say, crossing my arms,"Can't we at least open it?" She says as she holds the letter up to the sun, trying to see through the envelope to the contents inside.
"Would you quit that." I say as I take the envelope from her hands.
"Awww." She pouts, and I ignore her as I walk past her into the house, taking the envelope with me.
"The timing of this couldn't be worse." I say as I rub my face in frustration. "However, the lab should be opened up by now, I'll make sure this thing isn't booby-trapped."
"So, we're going to open it??" She says as she starts jumping up and down excited.
"No. I just want to make sure this thing isn't gonna blow up in our faces. Literally." I emphasize the last part."Aww c'mon! If your gonna 'examine' it, we might as well look at it! You're just being stubborn!" She says throwing her arms up in defeated.
"Why do you care so much anyway?"
"I'm curious." She says proudly.
We walk down the halls and arrive at the lab, I take a deep breath of relief when the doors actually open when I pull the handle this time.
"Might as well get you checked up while we're here."She scrunches up her face, it looks like she wants to argue with me, but decides against it. "Fine" she says finally.
She sits at the chair next to the monitors and start spinning in the swivel chair.
I ignore her antics and I put the envelope in a contraption I've made to test packages.
You'd be surprised how many bomb threats we get from hero's, vigilantes, and angry customers..."Y'know." She starts.
" I could just open the letter. And I can just tell you if it's something important.""Dem." I warn her.
She stops spinning and looks at me seriously.
"I'll stop pestering you if you let me read it! I won't even ask you about the bruises on your neck if you let me open it!" She says mischievously.
I snap my head to look at her.
So she did notice...I send her a glare, but say nothing.
I turn my head back to focus on my work.
"Whatever." I say embarrassed."So is that a yes?" She says, wiggling her brows.
I ignore her as I check the monitors, it doesn't look like it's been tampered with, although I doubt it would've been in the first place. 'hero's honor' and all that.
(although that hasn't stopped them before...)"Fine. Pry into my mail. I don't care." I say as I take the envelope out of the contraption and hand it to her.
"Yippee!" She says in a high pitch tone.
