LISAKHANYA'S POV
I scurry to my room in haste before uncle T asks any more questions. It doesn't help that I'm a bad liar. Jokes aside, I missed my mom. I still need that closure because it's undeniable...that is the most genuine embrace I am fond of.
I have come to a realisation that I'm a mamas baby. In fact I must sleep with her today!
I grab a pillow and my phone and head to uncle T's room. Holdddddddd up! Let me knock before I see things I won't be able to unsee.
"Who is it?" My mom shouts from inside.
"It's me."
"Me who?"
I involuntarily roll my eyes.
"The only child you have ever given birth to!"
She chuckles.
"Ngena!"
I waltz into her bedroom and throw myself onto her bed. I watch her as she lotions her legs.
"Baby girl." She says.
"Ma, ng'cela ukulala nawe?" I ask putting my puppy eyes in place.
"Haibo Lisakhanya! Umdala kangaka?" She exclaims.
"It's not my fault you made me miss you...." I say folding my arms.
"In case you forgot." She says waving her left hand at my face. Indicating that he put a ring on it!
Show off.
We are interrupted by uncle T strolling into the room with his phone on his hands. I forgot this is his room for a second there. He's violently typing something, and curiousity gets the better off me. I notice his body language changes as a notification comes through. His eyebrows farrowed down and that vein on his forehead ready to pop.
He is chewing on that toothpick like his life depends on it. Behind him comes Thato carrying his xbox and praise Jesus Hallelujah! It's about time!
"And then? Where are you taking the xbox?" My mom asks in confusion.
Thato shifts his gaze to his dad waiting for him to explain himself.
"Don't look at me like that. Ba buwa lewena eseng nna." Uncle T says taking out the toothpick from his mouth.
I chuckle. Uncle T heads into the bathroom, untying his dreads.
"Ausi Bri... papa said I should bring it to his room." Thato says scratching his head.
She sits comfortably, changing position to listen attentively to his next excuse.
"And...?"
"And..."
The conversation is disturbed by the sound of my phone ringing. Remind me who put this ringtone on my phone? My ringtone is that song, Bad commando by Rema. Don't get me wrong, I love the song but It's just too loud.
I check the caller ID, it's Papi and I instantly blush. My mom notices this and shifts her gaze to the screen suspiciously.
"Papi?" She asks with one eyebrow raised up.
I hurriedly exit the room to answer the call. I also saved Thato from interrogation as he leaves the xbox on the bed and runs to wherever.
"Hii." I whisper.
"Babe." Aaron says.
And my heart melts.
"I'm at your corridor but it's locked. Ukuphi?"
