LISAKHANYA'S POV
"And that is all for today students! Have a lovely weekend." He says dismissing us.
I pack up my bag in haste. I'm actually late for my meeting with Joylin. My biggest stress is the workload professor Brown instructed me to do. Hear me out when I say law demands a lot of reading and understanding. Well atleast the internship taught me that. Coincidentally, Sihle and I are in the same university. What are the odds right? Although she is studying Political science, we bump into each other quite a lot. "Uhmm miss Ntshingila." He says disturbing my thoughts.
"Yes Mr Brown?" I respond. "Have you finished reading Tom Bingham's book?""Pardon?" I say clearly knowing I lost the book. He borrowed me the book because apparently it will teach me all I need to know about law.
"The book I lent you...the rule of law." He says audibly.
"Uhmmm about that sir..." I say scratching my head and he folds his arms looking at me intensely. "I'm not done reading it." I lie. He has this authoritive look that is quite intimidating I must say. I better find that book or I'm toast.
"Oh alright. I was wondering if we can discuss some things over coffee?" He says catching me by surprise. "I'm afraid that won't be possible sir, I'm quite busy." "I promise it will be worth your while." He says getting off his seat. I shift backwards because I don't want one of my episodes to start again. His cologne is already making me nauseous. "I will let you know when I am free sir. Bye!" I say heading for the door. Wheew! Close one. If I didn't know better I would say he was trying to take me out. I brush off that thought and walk towards the car and find Sabelo lying backwards listening to Escape from LA by the Weekend. I swear Sabelo is just different, creepy different.
Sihle comes out of nowhere attacking me with a hug. I think she's adapting to dressing like a lady now. She's rocking a delela short and white airforces and tied her braids into a ponytail. It suits her, I won't lie. "Lisa! Love the new look." She says smiling and I chuckle. "I need a solid." She says. Of course, why else would she hug me like that. "Shoot." I respond. " Please ask your driver to take me to Mall of the south, my car is currently at the mechanic please!"
"It's your lucky day because I am heading towards the same direction." I say putting my bag into the boot. I ask Sabelo if he can drop us there and he agrees. I text Joylin informing her I'm on my way and she responds with an "okay". We catch up and she invites me for dinner tomorrow with her parents. Everybody just wants to invite me somewhere, it's exhausting. I agree but on one condition. That she helps me out during my mom's wedding preparations. I will need a helping hand. She agrees and it's settled!
We reach Mall of the South and go our separate ways. I notice Joy sitting on her own eating some ice cream. "Hey!" I say bringing her back to planet Earth. " Hi baby girl! How are you?" She says reaching for a hug. "I'm good and yourself?" I say hugging back. "I'm great."
I sit opposite her and she just stares at me. "What?" I say chuckling. "I see you dyed your hair! It looks nice but different." She says unsurely. Don't know if that was genuine but.." thank you." I respond. We order some food and eat over a light conversation. One thing she keeps repeating indirectly is if there is someone in my life. Sadly no but I have a feeling Kholwani sent her. She goes on and on about how Kholwani hasn't been himself and misses me. I honestly don't know how to respond to that. I miss him too?
"So, I know someone..." She says placing her fork down. "Mhmm." I respond with food in my mouth. "Have you ever heard of SASA?" I shake my head in disapproval. "It stands for sexual assault survivors anonymous. I know someone who's life has changed for the better. Victims come together and talk about their experiences, some people prefer to do it wearing masks well because they want to remain anonymous. I think it would do you good." She says and bites her lower lip. She held all her breath to tell me this. I swallow my food and all I could say is " Wow!". Don't get me wrong, I'm glad she is willing to help me and her concerns but I really don't know about this.
"I will let my mom know about it." I say and have a glass of water. I don't really have to talk to her, she would be more than pleased for me to go. She releases a huge sigh. She held all her breath to tell me this. "Don't you wanna know who that someone is?" She asks. "Who?" I ask puzzled. "Me." And I raise my head in disbelief. "When I was about 8 or 9...." She says
