The following days to come, it was still the same. Seungcheol would use the key to their room to enter and take his clothes and would say the very same thing he would say to the sleeping Jihoon,
"I'm sorry."
Jihoon's starting to grow tired of all his sorry because it doesn't make him feel better. He knows why Seung Cheol was sorry.
It wasn't because he kissed another man.
It wasn't because he caused him pain.
It was because Seungcheol fell in love with another while they were together, and that just makes him feel so small of himself that he couldn't let go.
Tired from all the usual background of his apartment, Jihoon starts taking walks with their dog. Every morning before Seungcheol leaves, he leaves first to walk to the park with their dog. Every afternoon he would also walk down the town, taking in the everyday scene he was used to. He thought walking outside would clear his mind but not even Seungkwan's jokes work on him anymore. It's as if he's getting numb already.
He doesn't talk to Seungcheol, that's a first. He wants to not care about him but when the clock strikes 9 and Seungcheol isn't home yet, he becomes worried.
He would text him nonstop asking him where he is and would sometimes be impatient when he doesn't answer his calls. He wants to not care anymore but how does he do that?
One night, Seung Cheol came home. Jihoon was watching television in their living room, Not wanting to even throw a look at Seungcheol who takes his shoes off and sits right next to him.
"Jihoon," Seungcheol called out but Jihoon didn't listen to him. He continued to stare at the television, but he couldn't understand anything that the television was speaking out. He heard Seungcheol sigh and took the remote from the coffee table. He turned off the television he was staring at.
"I was watching that." that was his first words to him in weeks, but Seungcheol didn't care. They stayed in silence for a while until,
"Jihoon. I don't think we could still do this." Jihoon swore he heard his heart shattered more. He knew what Seungcheol was talking about. He bit his lip and turned to look at him.
"Cheol. come on. It's alright, Cheol. I'm fine. I'm trying to be fine, so please."
"Jihoon, I can't go on another day seeing you like this. seeing you in pain. I can't just turn a blind eye when I know you're hurting badly. Jihoon, you deserve someone who will love you right." Seungcheol said holding him by his shoulders. Jihoon's tears started to form in his eyes again. He thought, he cried out all the tears in his body but why were there still tears forming in his eyes anymore.
"Do I not deserve you anymore, Cheol?"
"No. You don't deserve me, Jihoon, because I'm not worthy of your love." Jihoon shut his eyes closed letting out all the tears in his eyes. he held Seungcheol's hands in his tightly.
"Cheol, please. I'd forgive you still just please."
"Jihoon. you deserve better than me."
"But I want you, Cheol! You're the only one I want! You're the one I see worthy of my love. Please, Cheol! Please, just give me time to heal. Don't leave me." he cried out.
"Jihoon."
"Cheol, please."
"I promise I won't leave my coffee mug on the balcony anymore."
"I promise I'd help you out when you cook dinner."
"I promise I'll clean our home for you so you can just relax when you get home."
"I promise I'll always take Beol for a walk in the morning and afternoon."
"I promise I'll call you during lunch and before you leave work."
"I promise I'll always reply to your messages."
"I promise I'll do anything, Cheol. please just don't leave..." he begged. Jihoon begged him to stay.
"Jihoon. You don't need me." Seungcheol said claiming his hands back and standing up to leave.
"Cheol, please. I can't live without you!" Jihoon screamed. Seungcheol looked back at him and said,
"Jihoon, you managed to live the first 21 years of your life without me. You'll manage more years to come without me." Seungcheol said. He took Beol in his arms and stared at Jihoon.
"But you promised me," he muttered.
"I'm sorry, Ji," Seungcheol said and left the apartment.
"Cheol... please." He whispered in the wind.
Jihoon kept calling Seungcheol, but he wasn't answering. His phone was turned off and he doesn't have any means of communication to talk to him.
He has no number of his co-workers nor friends which is why he can't do anything. He knows Cheol was with Wonwoo, where else could he be but with him. He cried just thinking about it. This was it. This is the end.
