I miss my parents! Basically my whole family in Ohio. And I'm so glad that my big sister is finally going to get married next next week, so the whole family is here in Finland attending the celebration. It's been a year since the last time I bonded with them and it's also been a year since I moved here from Ohio. Why did I moved? Because I need some time to breath and to move on.
What happened in Ohio two years ago wrecked me causing me to lose myself. My boyfriend for three years cheated on me with my cousin, the fact of being cheated on and getting betrayed by a family member sucked and that's why in order for me to genuinely move on, I flew here.
Right now, I am finally getting back on the grind. Slowly gaining myself and enjoying life once again.
"Oh sweety! I miss you so much! How's Finland been treating you?" My mom said hugging me so tight when they arrived here at my sister's house.
"Good." I replied. "Hey Dad!"
"Hello Sascha my dear!" My Dad greeted giving me a quick tight hug too. "Where are your grandparents?"
"Oh, they can't make it down here." I answered. "The weather's not good. I don't want them to catch a cold."
"You're really enjoying being their personal nurse, aren't you?" My mom commented.
"I am more like a babysitter." I responded shaking my head while giggling thinking how I always wake up in the morning hearing my grandparents argue because of the freaking toaster.
When I moved here in Finland my job the whole time was to take care of my grandparents because obviously they're getting old. And I want to personally look out for them while I'm here so I stayed with them rather than with my sister. My father is Finnish, and he met my mom when he was in Ohio working as a neurologist on one of the hospitals in there.
My family always come here in Finland, usually every summer to come visit my grandparents. Due to that, Trina found the love of her life which will be her soon-to-be-groom here in Finland and so she moved here for good just to be with Valter-- like just eight months after they got official.
By the way, my sister is pretty lucky with finding true love, while I on the otherhand sucked.
"We should visit them tomorrow Bryan. God! I'm really exhausted from the flight." My mom blurted out as she settles on the couch. "Where's Trina?"
"Oh! She's finalizing some arrangements downtown." I replied. "Are you guys hungry?"
"I'm tired. I'd better take some rest." My father answered and went to one of the guest rooms in the house.
"What about you mom?" I asked.
"What you got?" She replied and followed me in the kitchen. "I'll help."
I started rummaging on Trina's fridge to look for something to eat as a snack. I decided to make tacos instead, my mom also helped me in preparing.
"You look really good right now Sascha, I'm glad." My mom commented.
I smiled at her totally appreciating the fact that she noticed the changes in me. I felt really good. "Thanks mom."
"So do you have any plans in going back to Ohio and continue school?"
"After the wedding, maybe." I answered sighing because I'm still kind of hesitant, and my decisions about going back is not yet final. I'm still anxious, and there might be an off chance of cancelling on the last minute.
"I miss school, to be honest." I added. "And I only have one more year left to graduate on pre-med, I want to finish it already."
"You know you can transfer here in Finland if you're not yet ready to go back." My mother suggested which made me to laugh.
I know how concerned they are, they are the first people who saw me became such a mess when Will and I broke up. They saw how ruined I was, and it definitely led to cutting ties with Julia's family. She's my second degree cousin-- our family used to be so close but because of what she did, she wrecked the whole family as well. Honestly, that caused a major drama in our family.
"I'm fine now mom. Seriously that was two years ago." I said. "However, I'm still not ready to see Julia or anyone in her family."
"Her Dad has been trying to reach out to be honest." My mom said smashing the avocados.
"Really?" I said. "It's funny because Julia has been trying to reach out to me too."
"When?"
"Like, two months ago? But I ignored her messages and blocked her."
"Well, good for you. If you're not yet ready then don't push yourself." My mom advised.
"No, I won't."
"By the way, when is the bachelorette party?"
"In two days." I answered. "Nothing fancy actually, Trina said we'll just hit the bar and have drinks."
"Any plans on hiring a stripper?"
"Mom!"
"What?!" My mom responded. "It's not a fun bachelorette party if there's no stripper involved. I'm telling your sister to hire one."
"Urgh! Now, I'm totally not looking forward to it." I responded rolling my eyes.
