Chapter 2

    Ocean has a crazy first day of senior year, going from being sick to finding out that she's pregnant with her boyfriend James's baby. The reader finds out that James was cheating with local senior Aiya Jewel but James dumps her before the secret gets out, hoping that when he tells his girlfriend, she won't leave him because he says he is madly in love with her. Ocean Odega POV

    I stand, unable to speak in the locked bathroom. I keep looking down at the positive pregnancy test. I already called James and told him the news. I mean I'm 17 years old and I just started my senior year of high school, I'm not even graduated, what am I gonna do with a baby ! I told my family that the test came back positive and they seemed excited but concerned at the same time. They immediately set up an appointment at the clinic to get me professionally tested.

Nurse: Congratulations, you're going to be a mom in 9 months, your test came back positive. Let's get you in for an ultrasound to figure out how far along you are.

Ocean: I can't believe I'm actually pregnant ! I swear we were careful 🥺.

James: We were babe, we used a condom and everything.

Nurse: Condoms don't always work, have you thought about birth control ?

Alaina: Yes, she's on the pill but she must have forgotten to take it that day.

Ocean: Yeah actually I did.

Nurse: Well you are pregnant, have you thought about what you might be leaning towards ?

Ocean: More than likely adoption, I'm not ready for a kid but I don't believe in abortion, and if I do keep it what do I do about college, a job, my whole life.

Austin: I think you should keep it. Your mother and I will help you, and we always wanted grandchildren, why would we pass this opportunity up ?

Alaina: Your fathers right but she's only 17 so her support system would have to be huge.

James: Well she has me, both her parents, both my parents, June, and Cameron. I think we should keep it.

Ocean: Okay then it's settled, we're keeping the baby, as long as everyone keeps their promise. Oh my god, I'm going to be a mom !

......The next day......

    The next morning I wake up in my bed and I realize what happened the day prior. I also forgot that I have school today, no wonder I woke up at 7am. I mean I had morning sickness for  about 10 minutes but I guess it was fate waking me up so that I wouldn't be late for class. I hopped out the shower, put on a spaghetti strapped dress with some clear sandals and I slicked my hair back into a low bun and headed to school.

    Being 2 weeks pregnant, I was sick all the time throughout the day, one minute I'd be okay and the next I'm running towards the nearest bathroom. This went on for the first 2 months of my pregnancy. The 3rd month it stopped and it was the best feeling ever to just be fine and healthy. I was beginning to really show and all of my clothes couldn't fit anymore so my mom decided to take me and June shopping.

Alaina: So June you can get whatever you want, Ocean you need to get maternity clothes, clothes that will fit you while you're pregnant.

Ocean: Okay mom I want to at least go to the shoe store to find more shoes, ooh and I need some more jewelry too.

Alaina: Get whatever you want honey.

June: This is going to be fun !

......Later that day......

    When we returned home, I spread my new maternity clothes across my bed and stood there like an idiot staring at them as if I didn't know what they were. I sighed and went into my bathroom. When I walked in I passed my mirror and I couldn't help but notice how firm my stomach was getting. I was 17, three months pregnant, and still in high school. At least I had my boyfriend, my best friend, and my family to help me through this. I decided to take a shower and head to bed.

    It was now November, so it was chilly out, not too chilly but enough to be cuddled up under a blanket. In Pasadena, we don't get anything under a 70 but to us 70 is chilly. I wake up on a Saturday morning thankful I don't have to go to school today. Thanksgiving break is in a few weeks so my parents are preparing daily. Buying canned goods and greens, getting our turkey early and saving all of the perishable items for last. I got up, showered, and threw on a pair of maternity pants my mom bought me yesterday, and a sports bra. I didn't bother to do my hair because the only thing i planned on doing was inviting June and James over to binge movies with me and Cameron in the theatre room. I text everyone really fast before I head downstairs.

......Downstairs......

Alaina: Hey honey, how are you ?

Ocean: I'm doing good, James and June are coming over to watch movies, Cam you wanna join ?

Cameron: Of course, I love movies.

Ocean: Great ! Mom I'd invite you but you know how you get with sitting down for a long time.

Alaina: I know dear, I'm actually going out to help one of my cast members prepare for her next audition so I'll be out today and your father will be at the office.

Ocean: Cool, I'll see you later

Austin: See you kids later I'm heading out.

Ocean: Bye dad

Cameron: Bye dad

    A little later James and June show up for our day of binging. We watched a few horror movies, then some comedy, and finally an action film.

June: This has been such a great day.

Ocean: Omg yes, we should do it more often.

Cameron: I'm down.

James: Whatever you guys wanna do.

    It was about four am when we finished watching movies, so June and James decided to stay over. James stayed in my bed and June slept on the daybed that's near my window. I woke up at about seven am to go to the bathroom, and when I sat down what I saw scared me more than it should have.

Ocean: OH MY GOD, BLOOD !!!
