Chapter 5

Previously on 'When It Rains'..

Ocean confronts James about the accusations of him keeping secrets from her that she got from a mysterious caller the previous night. She finds out that James has in fact been lying to her, not about a weird trait that he has or an extra toe like she thought, but the fact that he had an affair while she was away on vacation, and now, on to chapter 5..

Ocean Odega POV

Ocean: How could he do this to me. I have been nothing but nice to this man and he goes and cheats on me for my WHOLE vacation ! What a douchebag. He couldn't keep it in his pants for one month, I wonder what other trips I took that he cheated. I can't believe I had the nerve to get pregnant by him, let alone believe that he could be a good father, he can't even be a good person ! Ugh ! I hate him so much right now.

June: That lying, worthless piece of TRASH ! He really sat in your face and made it seem like it wasn't that big a deal ?

Ocean: Best friend yes !!! He said " we had sex every day." Like who the hell says that to their girlfriend, let alone their pregnant girlfriend !!!

June: He's such a piece of shit. Have you told your mom yet ?

Ocean: No I haven't. I didn't want to stress her out because then it would stress me out. June I'm really rethinking this baby situation. I don't know what I want to do anymore, I mean I'm attached to it but I don't want to do it alone. I don't want to see him again but I'm not going to struggle if he wants to be there for the baby, I don't know, am I being selfish by keeping the baby from him ?

June: Best friend, you're doing what any person who just found out their boyfriend cheated on them months ago and then lied about it would. I don't blame you for bringing the baby into it because do you really want to break up with him and have your child around a cheater and possibly other women ? On another note though, it is still his child, and if you do end up sharing custody, you're going to have to either suck it up and be cordial with him, or remove him from custody all together, but to do that, you have to go to court and prove him unfit and all that, but who wants to do all of that ?

Ocean: Yeah, that's a whole lot for something he did to ME. He hasn't done anything to the baby.

June: Think about it, it's easier to pretend you don't care, and let him share custody with the baby and that's it, least you can get is a break. I heard mothers go crazy if they have their child everyday all day, but of course I will never understand, I mean its your child.

Ocean: Yeah, I don't get that, oh well, I think I will do it your way though, he can help with the baby and get shared custody, until he fucks up with my baby, then its over.

June: Sounds like a plan.

Ocean and James

Ocean: Honestly I can say, even though I cannot for the life of me stand you right now, I won't try to keep you away from your child. Then and only then will you hear from me. You can come to appointments, but you will not be around me outside of those appointments. Obviously you can come to the birth but you will sit on the couch and stay still and quiet until its time for me to push, you don't like it ? Come at the last minute. Other than the baby, I don't want to hear a goddamn peep out of you about anything that happened in the past. You are to be a father and a father only, not a boyfriend, not an ex, just a father, and outside of our child we have nothing to talk about. Clear ?

James: Understandable. Ocean I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt you. I have no idea what I was thinking. I'll give you your space, but I wanted you to know I will always love you.

(Ocean reads his message but does not respond. James notices and tears begin to well in his eyes, and he couldn't help but feel disappointed in himself because he knows the breakup is all his fault.)

I put my phone down and proceed down stairs to tell my family the terrible news. I waited about two days to tell them because I was in shock myself ! I gave James so much credit for being the perfect boyfriend, I trusted him, I gave him my body, I gave him my all, I allowed him into my home, he met my family and all for what ? Four years wasted on a man who clearly never loved me, because someone who loved me would never cheat on me let alone play it off like it was something normal, like he didn't just ruin a four year relationship over what ? Aiya Jewel ? I mean she's pretty but she's weird ! She doesn't talk to anyone, she's always staring at people and not saying anything, and someone told me she was into that witch craft shit. She's probably at home right now putting a spell on my damn baby like what the actual fuck.

......Downstairs......

Ocean: Mom, dad, Cam, I have to talk to you guys for a minute.

Cameron: Yeah sis ?

Alaina: Yes honey ?

Austin: What is it dear ?

Ocean: So me and James broke up..

Cameron: What the hell happened ?

Ocean: He fucking cheated on me with this girl Aiya Jewel that goes to our school.

Austin: When the fuck did he have time to do that ? He's always at our damn house eating all our fucking food knocking up our damn daughter what the hell !!

Alaina: Calm down honey, we don't want a case.

Austin: No Alaina fuck that !! Do you know what I would have my son do to that son of a bitch !

Ocean: Then he tried to play it off like it wasn't that big a deal and tried to say it was a mistake but no. Is it a mistake if I get up, get dressed, go to another house every day and when my boyfriend comes home from vacation lie about it for months and then say its a mistake, its not.

Austin: Well since your mother wont let me strangle the son of a bitch, i'll just have to call his parents to see how they feel about this. Is that a good response Alaina ?

Alaina: Perfect response dear thank you.

Ocean: Ugh I just cannot believe he would cheat on ME like of all people. I'm a fucking prize.

Cameron: You are sis, some guys are just dumb they don't realize what they have until its gone. I bet he texted you with the "I never meant to hurt you, I'll always love you" cliche.

Ocean: He actually did, and I left him right on read.

Cameron: Good, don't let that freak get any type of attention from you at all. He doesn't deserve it.

Ocean: Thanks Cam, I appreciate it.

Cameron: You're welcome sis, don't let anyone treat you any less than the prize you are.

Ocean: I wont, thank you.

Cameron: You're welcome, even though I can't break every bone in his body, I definitely have some things to say. Let's call his parents.

I know the chapters are a bit short but I promise its only because I want to have more chapters in this book versus a few long chapters, and when the book is finished, it'll feel much longer, maybe not following along but definitely when its finished.
