Burn (chapter 3)
"Duck, punch, dodge, punch, repeat." I whispered to myself. "Duck, punch, dodge, punch, repeat." I did this every day that I had a match. Practicing different punches and dodges. When your training to fight him you usually train hard, as hard as possible, Me, not so much, I'm not scared of fighting him. I mean I have beat him before, plus he makes fun of Ty all the time. I'm not okay with that.
Speaking of the devil, "Maybe instead of fighting air, you should fight me now? I mean you're going to lose anyway, might as well get it over with."
I turned quickly and glared, "So cocky... If I do recall, I have beat you more times then I can count."
He just smirked and said, "If I recall, I've beat twice as many people as you." And then just like that turned around and walked away, leaving me to my practice.
(Time skip)
------------------------------------------"Mike and Tyler, first fight." yelled out of the intercom. Ty looked at me and I smiled for assurance. She smiled back and walked to the mat, as did Mike. Mike is an average fighter, he can throw good punches, but his elbows are much more powerful.
They step on the purple mat in the middle of the room and shake hands, a thing we have to do every time that we fight anyone. Immediately after you get in your stance.
"Begin!" the speaker screamed. Tyler immediately punched his throat, making him lose breath. Mike backed up a few steps, and then looked at her. Tyler hesitated for a split second, and that is all he needed. Tyler was on the ground and pinned in 0.8 seconds. Mike pinned her with his feet holding her ankles down in place and his elbows on her shoulders. Let's just say they were close, very close.
Tyler used her right hand and punched his stomach, not to hard but hard enough to make him lose footing on her right ankle. In 0.5 seconds they swapped places, but instead of elbows on shoulders, her hands were on his wrists. And I knew right there that he was pinned, he couldn't move enough to get away. I would know, I was the one that taught her that move.
Mike knew he was pinned, so instead of fighting it, he just laid there, looking right up at Tyler until the speaker finished its count to five. "Tyler, winner." Tyler jumped up from the position she was in, and ran to me.
"I used that move, and it worked! It actually worked, I beat Mike!" She laughed, while I smiled.
"You beat me." Mike smiled, "Good fight Tyler." I knew one thing, Tyler has had a crush on Mike for 4 years, and honestly I don't think she has ever liked anyone else. Thing is she doesn't know he likes her, and I'm waiting for one of them to find out before I say anything. He never pinned anyone with elbows, it was always with his palms. Yes I notice these things, I use other people's offenses against them, what's wrong with that?
"Thanks, and you too. I thought I was down that last pin from you though. But I remembered the pin that Kat taught me, and so I used it." She rambled.
Mike smiled at her then looked back to his friend Isaac, "Well, I'll see you guys later." And then he waved at me and Tyler. Which the wave was returned from Tyler, while I nodded.
"Teresa and Rachel, second fight." yelled the intercom. It continued for a while, until it was my turn. "Ace and Kat, eighth fight." I walked to the purple mat that was covered in sweat, and smiled at Tyler. She nodded at me and smiled back, silently wishing me luck.
Ace then stood in front of me and smiled, it was weird, him smiled at me. He never does that, has to be a trick. So I did what I always did, kept a flat face. Ace reached out to shake my hand, so I did the same. As soon as we shook hands, the pain started, the pain was back. And it was bad, really bad, it just had to be right before when I start a fight? Seriously, I kept on a brave face though, and looked at Tyler. She noticed immediately and her eyes went wide in shock.
"Begin!" I looked at Ace and silently prayed for myself to have this pain diminish. I put on that flat face and did what I do every time this happens, try to tire my opponent out. Ace and me kinda walked in a circle measuring each other's weaknesses. He was staring at my eyes and me his, and as I expected he ran forward trying to tackle me, but I dodged it not exactly perfectly, which resulted in my wrist screeching in pain.
I winched from the impact to my hip and from my stupid unique pain. He quickly got up and looked at my wrist, the wrist and punched my shoulder (the one that doesn't owns the pain) and I almost fell to my knees, but I had enough strength for me to punch his jaw in the process. He stumbled back a little before he caught his balance, and he just waited.
I took this as an opportunity and ran forward to catch him off guard as I slammed him to the floor, (causing me butt loads of pain, but you have to learn how to fight it), pinning him of course, but not my signature pins that you can not move away from. It was a poor, fragile cage that could easily have been broken. But all he did was fake struggle and lay there tell the countdown finished, I looked at him confused as he got up and rubbed his non injured arm, without sparring me a glance and walked out of the gym as the speaker said, "Kat, winner."
