Burn (chapter 11)

Ace pulls on a rock and a hidden panel shows up with about a million different switches. Ace messes with it and all you hear is a loud 'Ding' and the East wall opens up into a large lab.

Now
I gasp at the large room before me, and laugh at my stupidity. I'm frozen on the spot, it's a huge white room, all the furniture is either blue or gray. All the people have a white coat over their normal clothes, unless you look at the people sitting on the blue chairs next to a huge black door, that door is the only color difference in this room.

As I conclude my quick search around the room I notice a female with a neutral smile walking towards us. She is wearing a white lab coat fully buttoned up and blue heels. She nods at Ace and he nods back. I lift my eyebrow at there strange way of communicating. She turns to me and full on bows, and then smiles slightly and runs to black door and walks inside.

Ace turns to me and says, "You ready?"

I laugh slightly and whisper, "Do I have a choice."

Ace laughs and grabs my hand, "Nope. Come on let's go, don't want to be late." Next thing you know he's pulling me towards the blue chairs next to the large black door. All the people sitting on the chairs stand up and stare at me, I through a questioning look at Ace and he just shrugs.

They all bow to me and move over two chairs so that we are closest to the black door. I get through back by that sudden gesture, it's not like I'm royalty or anything, they just moved over for us to be closer to a door. I mean come on it's just a door.

Ace bows at them and pulls me to the chair closest to the door and sits next to me. I barely sit there for two seconds before the same lady from earlier comes out the door and bows to me again and nods to the door. I guess silence is customary here.

Ace nods at the lady and pulls me to the door, it opens and we walk in. When we step in it 'dings', just like the shaft did. I notice a man in a dark blue shirt sitting at a large glass desk right across from us.

The man jumps from his seat and bows at me. Ace bows at the man and the man shakes his head again. Ace stops immediately at stands straight. Next thing I know the stranger walks through another door I didn't notice earlier and before I can steal a glance at Ace, he is back, with another person.

The other person is a boy, he is royalty, his clothes say it all. The boy looks like he is around my age. He shakes his head and whispers with the biggest smile, "Kat."

I stare at the boy and say, "How do you know my name?"He shakes his head and starts talking.

"God I never thought I would get to meet you, my name is Sam and I now your name because your my sister." I do a double take and look over to Ace. He stares at Sam, and whispers, "How."

Sam looks over to Ace and frowns, "Is he to be trusted?" Then looks over to me, I guess he's asking me. I nod. "Okay well, Kat and I are twins. My-I mean our parents noticed when we were born that are tattoos were the same, that never happens, ever." He points to his anchor or his wrist and I put mine next to his, it's the same, even after mine transformed. "The council also noticed the unique situation and took you away Kat. They fought to try to get you back, they tried. Out mom was killed and our father was thrown in jail. We were separated, they feared we were powerful, and I was put here. I grew up with these people and once I turned 15 I first learned what I am. I'm a shifter. I can transform into any person, animal, or object. I am to understand that you are here to find out what you are?"

I stood there trying to take it all in, I have a brother, a twin, he has abilities, we have the same tattoo, and that he lived here his whole life. Ace is standing next to me just as shocked. I thought we were coming here to see what I can do, not to find out I have a twin. I nod not finding any words to express what I'm feeling right now.
