Burn (chapter 9)
Previously
"Tomorrow I will pick you up at 7:45 and we will go to State. We are going to find out you ability." And then he was gone, I smiled slightly and went over to my bed and stared at the ceiling for hours thinking about what my ability could be and what the heck State is before finally falling to sleep. Now
Ace wasn't lying he knocked on my door at precisely 7:45, and of course being me, I was all-ready ready. I was sitting on the couch tapping my foot like crazy.I got up to speed walk to the door, but I was already there, okay that's weird, I turn to look behind me and the couch is 15-20 feet behind me. What the hell.
I shake my head and open the door, blowing it off for now. When I open the door Ace is leaning on the frame tapping his foot anxiously waiting.
"I made an appointment for 8:05, so we need to leave in 15 minutes to be there on time." He says while walking straight in my room like its his house.
"Oh right, ya just walk right in, that's good too." I say as sarcastically as possible. He laughs slightly and mutters a fake apology. "Whatever, anyways um, how does this work? Like do we walk right in and say 'Hello, people of the State, where do I go to find out my super power?'" I laugh quietly at my little joke.
Ace rolls his eyes and leans against my counter, "Kat, seriously, this is extremely serious. This is your future your talking about."
I scoff, "Our future was planed when the stupid Council stamped us with these painful marks!" I whisper yell while pointing at my wrist.
He nods his head and slowly walks over to me, "They can't control us, they can't chose our fate, they can't mark our future." He finished as he stopped right in front of me. He shook his head, "We are in charge of our future, not them, not anymore." Anymore, anymore, I thought as I pulled him as close to me as possible and hugged him tightly.
He immediately hugged back and when we pulled away he kissed me softly. A thought came to my mind, are we um, together? I laughed at my sudden thought, and Ace quirked an eyebrow.
"Oh it's just my weird awkward mind." I say still laughing at my stupid childish mind.
He laughs too and says, "Dude, you're kinda freaking me out, just tell me."
I shake my head, "You sure?" He nods quickly, "Okay well, uh my mind just asked itself if we were dating." I say briskly.
He shakes his head a little and smirks, "Seriously, that's what you keep laughing about. I figured it was something like I smelled or something."
I laughed again and shook my head. "No, but um, seriously are we?" I question.
He smirks, "I don't know, do you want to?" I look at the ground quickly trying to hide my slight blush, but when I do he lifts my head and smiles slightly. "Because I would love to."
Authors Note
By the way the top image is what Kat wears to the State. To be honest, I wasn't going to end the chapter there, but um it worked to well, and frankly I love it so if you don't deal with it. Oh and...
