"You're gonna be fine, it's Kertia," Phandrin hummed, pushing Kwared further into the hospital towards Kertias room. The woman just gave them the number easy as that.
"He hates me, I took his throne, I did that even after what we said-" Kwared rambled, his ankles skidding as he continued to hesitate going to the room.
"Kwared you guys have been together forever, and you were... Not in the right mind.." Phandrin mumbled the last bit, Kwared scoffing.
"Oh whatever, he's gonna be mad but they said he was stable..." Kwared huffed, the two of them coming to Kertias door.
Kwared pushed it carefully, peeking inside. He saw the silhouette of Kertia, the boy laying down, bandages on his head and covering some of his hair.
"Jeez-" Kwared hissed, turning and shoving Phandrin inside first. Kertia shifted, turning his head carefully to look at Phandrin with a small smile.
"There... You two are, I'm assuming you guys are alright?" Kertia basically breathed his words, Kwareds ears pressing back when he found Kertia to know he was there.
"Uhm, yeah- how are you feeling?" Kwared hesitated, his pride catching in his throat as Phandrin pushed him over to the bedside. Kertia laughed, his tone airy.
"I feel fine now, just weak, you did a number on me this time bro but nothing major," Kertia shrugged.
"How does it feel to be king?" Kertia waved a hand slightly, Kwared eyeing the device attached to his hand.
"I don't feel any different, people still hate and are scared of me- shit I didn't wanna get you hospitalized," Kwared scoffed to himself, changing the topic as Kertia rolled his eyes, shifting to sit up.
Phandrin sat down in the chair beside the bed, Kwared standing next to Kertia, looking at the monitor.
"It's fine, I'm fine now, you can pay me back some time. Free food works-" Kertia grinned, Kwared nodding quickly. Phandrin noted on if Kertias ears bandaged, a large part seemingly missing.
"When can you leave? And what injuries?" Phandrin asked, Kertia looking at him before glancing at Kwared who was waiting eagerly for the answer.
"Soon, maybe tomorrow, I just got bruised up and some of my ear is missing. Just some scrapes and bruises, they'll heal over time," Kertia mumbled, an attempt to sugarcoat the head injury. They said he might have a cognitive issue when it comes to flying for a couple of weeks, but it would go away. Still, Kwared didn't need to know since he could already feel guilt washing off of him in waves. He made a small swiping motion over his head to Phandrin while Kwared eyed the monitor, noting to Phandrin that he'd tell him later.
"Thank kitsune, I thought I fucking cracked your skull I'm sorry," Kwared barked, swallowing harshly as he said it. He still had his pride, yet here he was diminishing it.
Phandrin smiled, Kertia glancing at him as Kwared messed with his nails, glancing at the constantly beeping monitor again
"Well I hope you heal well then, It's gonna be weird not having you as king," Phandrin shrugged, Kwared nodding.
"Are you gonna try to reclaim it? I can give the spot back-" Kwared said quickly, grasping the sheet that covered the old hospital bed. Kertia shook his head, wincing slightly at the movement."I don't want to be king and I don't think I'd be able to fight anytime soon, and they're keeping me as an Ace to the league cause of how long I held it up, so I'm like the king's partner kinda," Kertia hummed, grabbing Kwareds hand with a smile. Kwared nodded slowly, sitting down on the floor and leaning his head on the bed with a sigh.
"Good, then nobody will fuck with us. You get to see the others soon, they all miss you," Kwared said, looking at Phandrin who was just listening, pitching in every few minutes, a smile on his face at the relaxed feel in the room.
"I'm excited, I miss Atlan," Kertia nodded, Kwared jumping at the sudden knock at the door.
Phandrin stood up and walked over to open it, his plain expression turning into a smile at the sight of Ace and Holly.
"Hiii, I didn't know you two were coming," Phandrin hummed, turning and letting them in. Kertia waved best he could, Kwared not moving from his spot of laying partially on the bed beside him.
"We had the spare time and Kertia is our friend too," Ace grinned, Phandrin nodding with a slight attitude as Ace took his seat."Are you doing alright?" Ace asked, Kertia nodding as he smiled.
"My injuries will heal quick since we're quadrants, I'm gonna leave tomorrow," Kertia waved a hand motioning to the bandages covering him. Holly glanced at Kwared who was still laying with his arms on the bed, his head rested on top, holding one of Kertias hands.
"Damn you really were worried, foxy gone soft," Ace snickered, Kwared growling but didn't move as Phandrin set a hand on her shoulder.
"Aight aight jeez, sorry," she raised her hands in defeat as Phandrin laughed under his breath.
"We've gotta go soon since our hour is running out so don't let him fall asleep," Phandrin hummed, Kwared glaring at him. Holly looked at the monitors Kwared eyed before, watching the heartrate beep.
"I'm excited, good luck on the recovery too, I've never even had to deal with any type of unity like that," Holly huffed, Ace snickering.
"Perks of the prey I guess, no fighting for you," She claimed, her canines on full display as Phandrin bapped her head down. She yelped, rubbing the spot where she'd been hit.
"You are really out of hand today innit," Phandrin mused, Ace sneering as she looked back at Kertia who just watched it all fold out. Kwared continued to stay there in silence until they had to leave.
Kwareds chest tightened when he noticed Kertia wincing with every move, standing up slowly.
"I'll come back tomorrow, before you leave and help you to your dorm, I'm sorry," Kwared nodded, Kertia smiling at him with a hint of mischief.
"Don't get so soft Lyphin, I'm alright,"
