I turned around and laughed.
I gave my dad a hug.
"Dad, stop you will scare him."
He grabbed my face, "Oh, darling! I am sure he will be fine. He is a king. I am sure he has faced worse than an old man." He glared at Liam.
But Liam looked in phased as he raised his hand for my father to shake. I smiled inwardly as I know his gaining my father's respect with his confidence.
Fragility and being timid shows weakness as well as the inability to protect what is yours.
I am a Queen and I need a King who will protect me at all costs.
My dad smiled, stepping in front of me to shake his hand. "I am Henry, former king of this great country and her father." He nodded his head in my direction.
"I am King Liam of Persia. It is an honor to meet you." Liam nodded back but I saw my father's face fall.
"Ah, Persia. The country that has known more war than most. Tell me what are you doing to ensure, the year of peace you have persists? Fairmarsh hasn't seen war in many decades and that's how we would like to keep it." My dad acknowledged.
Liam took in a sharp breath, "Yes, I hope I can continue to keep the peace for as long as possible. As you know I was the one who ended the war with the east by an arranged marriage with my younger sister and the king's son. I wish for my people to no longer have war be there first priority, but rather family and other things. I was hoping to get to speak with Queen Ebonie about later."
Liam looked at me but quickly returned his gaze toward my father. My father nodded absentmindedly, "As long as you know regardless of who Ebonie marries, she controls the soldiers and they won't move without her consent. Also, if she passes her sister, Wynter, is next in line in our country. We do not allow outsiders to solely govern here. So if you think you will overthrow us or cause harm to my daughter think again." He warned.
Liam gulped, "I could and would never. Protecting the Queen will be my life's mission and I do not take marriage lightly. If we are to wed, I will cherish and worship the ground Queen Ebonie walks on. Also, I am more than happy to leave the country it's affairs in her hands. I know you are wary of me, because of my grandfather's and father's legacy. However, please know I am nothing like them. I wish to peace the peace I see here, back to Persia with Queen Ebonie by my side as my wife." He winked at me.
My cheeks felt hot at his declaration, but I admire his resolve for going after what he wants. Which is me. All night as other eligible royals tried to steal my attention away from him or even just solely introduce themselves he interjected politely with some reason to take me away.
I was and still have been his primary focus all night.
My dad continued conversing with Liam about his plans for Persia's peace. I took that as my cue to socialize with the guests I have neglected.
I worked my way around the room, introducing myself to everyone and making small talk.
When I was done, I realized why my father didn't host many balls with royals often. They are exhausting, they aren't all bad but some are really entitled and rude.
I looked around the room for Liam, I found him on the other side of the room speaking very adamantly with Wynter. They were laughing and I smiled, it's nice they are getting along.
I began walking toward them and locked eyes with Liam, and his smile broaden once he realized I was approaching him.
His eyes trailed me the entire way over, and even Wynter noticed giving me a thumbs up as she stood there.
But as I was half way to Liam, the room went quiet and the hairs all over my body stood up.
Liam's eyes bore daggers behind me while Wynter was shocked.
I quickly turned around to see what is causing this commotion. It was him and my heart dropped into my stomach
Daniel.
He was stalking toward me like a man on a mission.
I can not form any rational thought nor could I breath.
He is here. In front of me. I have wished for months for him. To see him with my own eyes, to touch him, to kiss him, and to breath him.
I am overtaken with a swing of emotions when he reaches me.
I bite my tongue a bit to make sure this is real. He is here.
We finally reaches me and we just stare at each other. Neither of us daring to say a word.
Just as I was about to speak, a hand touched my back and I knew it was Liam.
I looked at Liam, he looked outwardly calm as he studied Daniel. Daniel stared at his hand touching me, and looked as if he could kill him.
I could tell a storm was brewing between the two men and it would end horribly for me if I don't act now.
"Hello," I spoke bringing their attention to me while I knew the whole watched intently.
Daniel looked at me and gave my the most breathtaking smile, and my heart ached for him. "Hi."
Liam pulled me closer to him, making me smell him inadvertently which wasn't lost on Daniel.
"King Daniel this is King Liam of Persia," I gestured toward Liam. "Liam this is King Daniel of France." I gestured toward Daniel.
Liam chuckled, "Yes, of course the man who made all this happen. I can not believe you let an amazing queen like her get away. I only hope to be a loving husband and devoted partner to her as she will be." Liam looked down at me and smiled while pulling me closer into him. I gave him a tight lipped smile, and looked at Daniel.
For some reason, he didn't look phased by Liam's comment implying I was to be his wife. "I am glad you have seen the reason why I proposed to her. But I must ask that you release my future bride. It's improper the way you touch her while she is my betrothed in three days time." Daniel smiled coyly at him, causing Liam's smile to falter and his hand to drop from me allowing me space.
"Start the music. Everyone please continue to enjoy yourselves." I yelled, and the music isn't started again along with people chattering amongst themselves.
"Liam, I must apologize but I must have a word with King Daniel alone. He seems misinformed about a couple things, I shall return shortly." I stated walking away before he could argue as Daniel was hot on my heels.
