Unedited*Jason's POV
I was waiting outside when the door opened revealing Athena.
She was in a blue dress, she looked great.
But she looked older, and I didn't like that. I will personally slice my sword through it when we get back or I'll just tell her father. Either way she won't wear this dress outside of this country.
"Where is Ebonie?" I asked when the door closed behind her and Ebonie was no where in sight.
"She needed a minute. Ebonie will out in a couple of minutes." She said walking toward me.
Athena walked up to me for what looked like an embrace, when she lended in and whispered into my ear just loud enough for me to hear.
"Don't let her out of your sight, and don't let Daniel near her. Look at her left wrist." She pulled back and smiled at me, before walking off down the banquet hall.
I was not concerned until she told me to look at her wrist. I couldn't really ponder what the meaning behind what she because Ebonie soon followed.
When she opened the doors the guard jumped to attention, Ebonie pretended not to notice as she keep her eyes on me.
She gave me a curious look as if she was surprised to see me.
"I am your escort. You will not be out of my sight much during this time. My job is to make sure no harm comes to you." I said walking toward her with my arm out for her to take.
"Also you are my best friend. I knew that you were probably nervous." He whispered to her when she took my arm.
She gave him a small smile. "Thank you."
We began walking down the corridor toward the banquet.
"Do remember when we were younger and we played hide and seek?" I asked with a sly smile recalling the memories.
"Yes, I was the best seeker there ever was." Ebonie boasted, and I couldn't help but scoff.
She raised her eyebrow at me with a incredulous smile on her face, "Do you disagree?" She countered.
"Of course, because you cheated ever time we played!" I said as I roared loudly with laughter.
She shrieked as she lightly hit my arm, "I never cheated!
She always cheated, she would peek to see what direction I went in. I just never told her I knew she always cheated.
We had made it to the banquet hall, as the court dictator announced that we had arrived.
"Now entering Lord Jason, and Queen Ebonie of Fairmarsh." His voice boomed strongly as the huge closed doors slowly opened, as the room began slowly captivating my attention with the rich decor.
I looked down at Ebonie, she was more enthralled with the decor than I. I finally noticed that she had a small bruise on her wrist which was the shape of a thumbprint.
It was so light one could easily miss it.
Then I realized it was Daniel and I grew so angry.
Sensing my stare Ebonie looked at where I was looking and gave me a small smile.
She deserved so much more than him.
She pulled me forward to walk, there was a grand staircase which went I had to walk before her and help her down.
I released her hand, and walked down three steps before her holding my hand outstretched for her to grasp.
When she looked at me, she gave me a smile that remembered from when we were children and I knew she was happy yet nervous.
That's when I really took in her appearance, she looked amazing.
I feel really stupid for not noticing how she had on their attire, she looked great her curves were on display for every man to see. She a generous amount showed cleavage, and her hair was down in waves as it complimented her face.
I have never seen her like this.
I have never felt like this toward her.
I can't she loves another and she needs her best friend now. I must push my feelings away.
I shook my head of all thoughts as we finally got to the bottom of the staircase.
I wasn't the only one captivated by her beauty.
The room had been reduced to hushed whispers for a while and the entire rooms eyes were on us.
Well her.
Ebonie was so unaffected, as she should be, I mean she is a queen after all.
When I held my arm out Ebonie grasped it rather quickly.
She was nervous.
She didn't look like it.
Then from across the room, Queen Maya rose from her chair.
"Let the banquet officially begin." She stated as her voice was welcoming yet held authority.
In an instant the music began playing, and everyone went back to their own conversations.
I began walking Ebonie up to her seat beside Maya, when I realized Daniel was seared next to her chair.
How could he not get the message.
Give her space.
Ebonie felt me tense up, and followed my gaze.
She frowned, shaking her head and squeezed my arm, as we approached Maya.
When we were standing in front of the table, Ebonie spoke.
"I hope you don't mind if I dance with Jason before I take my seat next to you for the night."
Maya smiled, "Of course not! The music is here for dancing and enjoyment. Dance the night away if you please, this night is for us hopefully allying our kingdoms."
Ebonie nodded, "Yes, thank you. We can discuss more later."
Ebonie nudged me, and I led her to the middle of the room.
Couples danced around us.
The song had just ended, and the music for the waltz began.
I smiled at Ebonie knowingly as we were forced to learn the royal dances together and the waltz being one of the harder dances for us both to grasp.
Ebonie smiled back at me with the same fondness as we took our places.
