We were standing in robes for about an hour before some handmaidens came in with our dresses.

They also had given us new under garments which Queen Maya insisted were 'more suitable' for the weather here and the dresses.

My dress was black and gold, while Athena's dress was more of a baby blue and gold.

The handmaidens did our hair. They put a plant called aloe vera in our hair to promote growth or so they said.

I just more so making my hair look very wet and slimy, but when they were done my hair was in is natural curls. It did not look as chaotic and unruly as normal.

The handmaidens helped Athena and I get into the foreign dresses.

They were thinner and airy than what I was used to.

Athena had her dress on first, and she looked gorgeous. The dress accentuated her curves, just like Maya's. Her dress made her look older, and more regal.

I loved it.

As did she, as she couldn't stop looking at herself in the mirror complimenting herself.

"I look so magnificent. Max is so lucky." She boasted playing with her hair and fixing the tiara.

I rolled my eyes at her compliment.

The handmaiden stopped her work on my dress and nodded at me.

"Okay, I am done." I said stepping from behind the changing screen.

The handmaiden looked her work satisfied as I walked toward the mirror.

I was eager to say the least to see my appearance, Athena looked beautiful so I expected as much to say the least.

"Ebonie, you look beautiful!" Athena enthused as she finally stopped looking at herself in the mirror.

I guess I took to long to arrive at the mirror, so Athena grabbed my wrist pulling me toward the mirror with a strong haste.

"Athena, what is wron-" I stopped mid-sentence as I glanced at myself in mirror.

I looked amazing.

The black dress left almost nothing to the imagination, as you saw the very outline of my body.

Normally, I would not have approved of something like this but the dress still looked like something a royal wore.

"Daniel is going to be begging for your forgiveness tonight." Athena yelled, as she raked my body up and down with her eyes.

I tensed when I heard his name, which is something that Athena did not miss.

"Thank you for your assistance ladies, but I need the room to converse with my sister." Athena spoke firmly, however with a smile on her face.

The handmaidens quickly scurried from the room.

"What happened? Do not lie to me because I saw that you upset after he kissed you harshly."

"Nothing happened?" I said, walking across the room to get my crown.

"Do not lie to me! Theo told me that Daniel yanked you from the carriage." She slightly raised her voice.

I marched over to her, "Lower your tone! Do NOT speak to me like that." I hissed at her.

"Then tell me what happened." She pressed on.

"I do not want to talk about it." I spoke with finalty.

"You will tell me sooner or later. But I do not want him near you, especially with those marks on your wrist." She said walking back to the mirror to check her appearance.

However my eyes snapped to my wrist. There was a slight bruise the shape of the thumbprint, but it was so light one could easily miss it.

I wanted to cry about it, how could I love someone who did this to me?

There was knock at the door, that took me from my thoughts.

The guard yelled through the door, "Your Highnesses, the banquet has now started and all the guests have arrived."

"You go down first, I'll catch up." I told Athena.

She was about to argue my statement until she looked at my face and knew I was not to be tested at this moment. She sighed, walking over toward the door and stopped.

"I am sorry. I did not mean to overstep, however you are my sister and I can not help but be protective of you. You have protected us your whole life and I just want to able to do the same." With that Athena left the room.

Pep talk time.

I turned around and walked toward the mirror, I sighed taking a piece of hair from my face.

My hair actually smelt really good, I wondered what else did they put in my hair. It smelt of lavender.

Focus! I yelled at myself as I looked in the mirror.

You can do this you are a queen. I looked at myself in the mirror. Tonight is not about Daniel, it is about strengthen your relationship with Maya, and gaining her as an ally. So pull it together!

I instantly straightened up. Prove them all wrong, you are an adult woman, that can overcome her emotions and handle business. For the glory of Fairmarsh!

I walked to the door opening it, which startled the guard. I pretended not to notice as I spotted Jason waiting outside my door.

I gave him a questioning look, "I am your escort. You will not be out of my sight much during this time. My job is to make sure no harm comes to you."

Jason walked toward me with arm outstretched, "Also you are my best friend. I knew that you were probably nervous." He whispered to me.

I took his arm in mine, and gave him a small smile. "Thank you."

We began walking down the corridor toward what I assumed was the banquet.

"Do remember when we were younger and we played hide and seek?" He asked with a sly smile on his face.

"Yes, I was the best seeker there ever was." I stated proudly, at which he scoffed.

I raised my eyebrow at him with a smile on my face, "Do you disagree?"

"Of course, because you cheated ever time we played!" He roared loudly with laughter.

I lightly hit his arm, "I never cheated!" I shrieked.

We had made it to the banquet hall, as the court dictator announced that we had arrived.

"Now entering Lord Jason, and Queen Ebonie of Fairmarsh." His voice boomed strongly as the huge closed doors slowly opened, as the room began slowly captivating my attention with the rich decor.

Sorry for the wait, but a lot has been happening lately as you all may know (corona virus). Everything has really just been so hectic for me with work, and school being online now. But I am quarantining myself, and practicing social distancing so that's how I am able to deliver this chapter now. Hopefully, I will be able to update next week. I don't know yet.
