Abbys POV
Home made pizza and salad. That is what we are having for dinner. Did I just hear my stomach growl?
The somber mood that was in the house before was now replaced with determination. I could tell that Mrs. Keeting was still stunned at the suddenness of the little visit that she had today, but now you can see the mother in her coming out full force. She wasnt going to let her child down.
We all sat down. Mr. Keeting said grace and we all sat in silence for a moment just gathering our food, until Jeremy opened the conversation door.
"So Abby now works at the shoe factory with me. I hired her today." He said through his first mouthfull of pizza.
Mrs. Keetings eyes widened and she said, "Really?! Congratulations Abby! How did your first day go?"
I think she was the nicest lady I have met. I smiled at her in response. "Oh, Mrs. Keeting. I dont want to brag...its not right..."
Interupting me, Jeremy blurted out, "She sold 3 pairs of shoes by herself. 2 with the help of Carlos and then she also sold 2 orthotic imputs and 5 sweaters. Gotta remember mom. This is all in the span of..." He placed his fingers on his chin and looked up at the cealing in thought. "Maybe 3-4 hours."
Mr. Keetings, Rogers, eyes bulged and his mouth opened. I really didnt need to see that...gross.
"Wow! Thats awesome!" Roger said in recovery. "So youve got some selling skills then?" He said, taking another bite of pizza.
"I didnt know it until Jeremy said something." I said. Nudging Jeremy in the arm.
He just looked and smirked at me.
There was another short period of silent eating. Then, out of nowhere, Roger looked between me and Jeremy. "You two like eachother?" He said, motioning with his fork.
I blushed and Jeremy basically choked on his salad. When I looked up at Jeremy, he was looking back at me. Then he said, with out looking at his dad, "I guess we do. Atleast I do."
I blushed even deeper than I did when it was brought up."I do too." I replied softly.
Dinner went by pretty quickly after that. I kept getting apraising glances from Jeremys parents and Jeremy couldnt seem to keep his eyes off me. When his mom got up to do the dishes, I got up as well and offered to help. "Cant turn down someone who is willing to help, now can I?" She said with a smile.
Jeremys POV
I walked outside with my dad to check on the pool. It was extra warm out tonight so I thought we could all go for a swim. Granted Abby would have to go get her bathing suit, but still.
"You really do like her dont you son?" Dad asked me as he rounded the diving board.
I hesitated for a second. "Yeah. I do...there is just something about her that has me wanting more..." I said. I could always talk to Roger. I consider him my dad. Not Scott.
"I know what you mean. I feel the same way about your mother." He said. Glancing up at me from the water. From the looks of it you look like a man who has met his match." He said with a smirk.
"My match? You mean like my mate? Soul mate?" I asked curiously. I glanced over my shoulder at the kitchen window where I could see Abby drying the dishes that my mother was watching. It seemed like they were getting along great.
"Yeah. Your soul mate. Good luck my boy. You are sure going to need it." And that was the last he said about it, because he had walked into the slidding glace door and said loudly, "So, who wants to go swimming?"
