I woke up the next morning at about feeling somewhat sore. I rolled over. 5:00. Ugh. For once I didnt really feel like getting up. I rolled over and started getting comfortable when I heard a buzzing sound. I tried to ignore it at first. Maybe it was just my mind getting the best of me. After a minute I heard it again. That's when I noticed that it was my cell phone.
"Ugh...what now?'
I glanced at the screen and saw that it was Jeremy calling me. What?
"Hello?"
"Why hello sunshine. Just waking up are we?" he asked. You could feel the sarcasm rolling through the phone.
"Actually yes. But you sound like you've been up for ages. What time did you wake up? Its only 5am." I said glancing at the clock again.
"Glad you can tell time." He chuckled. "Actually I just woke up myself about half an hour ago. I just got out of the shower and I thought I would call and see if you were up. Are you ready for a great day of job hunting?" he asked. I could hear the smile in his voice. It made me smile again.
"Well no. Not yet. But give me about half hour and I will be." I walked out to the living room and saw that my mother was already gone. " If you want to just come over and you can let yourself in. I will leave the front door unlocked. Just make yourself at home."
My house wasn't the cleanest. My mother and I have been so busy lately trying to find jobs that we haven't really unpacked. But I hope it wont make him uncomfortable.
"Ok. Just give me 5 minutes to get dressed and I will be there. Don't get in the shower yet. Wait till I get there. I don't want anyone breaking into your house." With that he hung up.
Well now what was I supposed to do. I went into the kitchen and made a pot of coffee. I don't often drink the stuff but I had a feeling I was going to need it today. I was already dragging. While the pot was brewing, I thought I would help my mother out and unpack a few boxes that were meant for the kitchen.
When I heard a knock on the front door, I put down the plate that I was unwrapping and went and let Jeremy in. Just to be cautious I looked through the peephole. Yup it was him.
"Good morning." He said with a smile. Then there was a little bit of color that creeped up his neck.
I smiled back and moved out of the way. He walked in and slowed down when he saw all the boxes.
"Goodness. How long have you been in town?" he asked over his shoulder.
"Um...well we got this house about a week ago and my mother and I have been too busy looking for work that we just haven't had time to unpack." I shrugged.
"Hmm." He started walking around. I guess he was making himself at home. But the look on his face said otherwise.
"Whats with that look? What are you thinking?" I asked suspiciously.
"Well, I don't know how you can operate with boxes this high. Maybe we can just stay here and I can help you unpack."
"Uh I don't know....you don't have..." I stumbled.
He cut me off before I could finish. "I didn't say I had to. I offered. I want to make you comfortable." Then he turned at looked at me. And then I noticed that Teddy got his smirk from his brother.
That smirk was more manly than his little brothers but man could he wear the heck out of that smirk!
STOP IT! Ugh...I can't have thoughts like that running through my head. He is just being friendly.
"So? What do you think?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Well, I do think my mom would like to come home to a clean house." I looked around the house.
"Then that is that. We are gonna stay here and get some unpacking." He smiled. "Do you want to take a shower."
It was then that I noticed that I was only wearing a shirt that went to just above my knee. I blushed and nodded. "Give me a couple of minutes."
He nodded and turned towards the living room. "Ill just get started, if you don't mind."
I headed to my bedroom which has an attached bathroom and closed the door. I ran in and took a quick shower. It may have been the fastest one that I have done. I grabbed a pair of shorts and a tank top and headed out of my room.
"Wow. That was fast." Jeremy said when I opened the door.
I blushed. "Ya. Lets just say I am not that comfortable taking a shower while someone I don't really know is going through all my stuff."
That immediately got a look from him. "You think I am going to steal from you?" His look was penetrating and I felt frozen where I stood.
"I didn't say that." My gaze was still locked with his. I couldn't tear it away. A look like that could just penetrate a persons soul, and that seemed like what he was trying to do.
There is just something about this guy. I can't place my finger on it.
When he finally looked away, he looked down at the box that he was currently unpacking and said, "So are you going to just stand there or are you going to come help?"
I walked into the living room, turned the radio on low, and started placing the furniture in a way that would open up the living room.
He started unwrapping stuff and I told him where to put it. We started some small talk while we were unpacking and after a little bit I started getting more comfortable. It seemed that he did too.
"So, if you don't mind me asking, why are you glad that your mother and father got divorced?" He asked.
"He was abusive sometimes. Not physically but emotionally and verbally. But in my opinion they can be worse than being physically abusive." He just nodded his head.
"I completely understand. See, I'm adopted."
