-Jeremy’s Point of View-
The funeral was on a Saturday. I decided it would be best to go. Abby was by my side the entire time. I held her hand as I watched them lower the casket. It wasn’t very sad. I mean, you would think that I would be sad, even just a little bit. But I was happy that this man was not tearing apart my family anymore. Or trying to kill them.
I looked over to Teddy. My little brother. I don’t know what I would have done if he would have died too. I will go through heaven and hell for him. His broken leg and wrapped wrist were the least of the problems, but when I looked up at his face, I saw him smiling at me. He knew.
I looked over to Abby on my other side. She looked up at me and smiled her sweet smile. How did I get to be so lucky?
-Teddy’s Point of View-
I watched Jeremy as he stared at Abby. You could see the love in his gaze. I am so happy for him that he found her at such a young age. I hope that happens for me.
I felt a squeeze on my leg above my cast. I looked over and saw Nicole. I smiled. “Hey. What are you doing here?”
She shrugged. “I thought you could use someone right now.” She sat down next to me and smiled.
“Well thanks.” I grabbed her hand and smiled. I turned my attention back to Scott being buried. He wasn’t the nicest guy but he did try to take care of me. I mean, I would have preferred it if he wasn’t drinking all the time, or cursing my mother and brother, or even driving like an ass. But he has gotten what he deserved in the end.
-A couple weeks later-
-Abby’s point of view-
“Merry Christmas!” Abby yelled when her mom opened her bedroom door.
“You too sweetie!” She walked over and gave me a big hug. “I miss you daughter. I feel so bad that I have to work today.” She frowned.
“Don’t worry about me mom. I was invited over today to Jeremy’s house to celebrate with them. After you leave of course. Why don’t you come over and meet his parents. I know they would like that.” I suggested. I have been dating Jeremy for 4 months now and she hasn’t even met his parents. It should be about time.
“Well, I guess I can do that.” She smiled. “I don’t have to be at work until about noon, so lets get to some hot coco and open some presents.” She seemed so excited. It was good to see my mother like that.
“Presents? I thought I was the only one who got you present.” I giggled. Messing around with my mother was so much fun. I miss her so much and I love spending time with her. I ran to my room and grabbed her wrapped present in the top of my closet. I hope she loves it. I set her present by the couch and went back to the kitchen.
I started the hot coco and then turned towards the living room. My mom came out of her room with her car keys and walked to the door. “Stay here while I go get your gift out of my car ok? No peeking!” She said. Then walked outside and closed the door. I stayed on the couch and waited until she came back in the door. But she didn’t have anything in her hand. Weird.
“Ok. I’m ready when you are!” She said as she came back inside.
“Ok. You can open my gift first.” I handed her my box and her smile grew wider. She ripped at the paper and opened the box.
“Awww! I can’t believe you got it framed!” Inside was a picture of me and her at the Grand Canyon. We stopped there on the way down here and decided on the photo opportunity. And there was one of them that she liked the most. I got it framed in a gorgeous frame and had it engraved saying ‘Mom, you’re the best. I love you forever. -Abby’
She ran over and hugged me so hard. I heard her sniff and as she thanked me. “Oh mom. No crying allowed. Because then I am just going to cry.” She chuckled.
“Ok. The suspense is killing me. I have to give you yours. It’s too big for me to bring it inside so you need to go outside.
I walked outside and down the walkway towards her car. Just then, I saw a car with a huge bow parked on the street behind her car. It was a red Kia and it was gorgeous.
I screamed. “A CAR?!?!?! You bought me a car!!! I can’t believe it mom! OH MY GOD!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” I ran over and hugged her so hard. This time I couldn’t help but cry.
“Hey! If I’m not allowed to cry, neither are you!” She said but she hugged me as fierce as I did her. “I love you baby girl.”
“I love you too mom. I love you so much! Thank you for this!” I said taking in the site of my new car.
“What are you waiting for? Get inside and get dressed and take me to your boys house. I want to meet his parents.” She smiled as I jumped up and down and ran inside.
When we were both dressed and ready for the trip, as short as it was, we got in my car and started on the way. I only drove for about 5 seconds but I wanted to show them my new car.
I pulled in front of the house and honked twice. As I got out of the car, Jeremy opened the door and I could see Teddy behind him. “Look what I got for Christmas!” I yelled. They came outside and came to look at it. Teddy was already talking about taking it places and Jeremy was just smiling. He walked over and hugged my mom.
“Hi Abby. What a great gift you got there. “ I heard Mrs. Keating say.
“Yeah. No kidding. My mom got it for me.” I looked over at my mom and motioned for her to come stand by me. “Mom, this is Mr. and Mrs. Keating. Jeremy’s mom and dad. Guys, this is my mom. I thought you should meet since Jeremy and I are dating. “
My mom reached out and shook their hands. “Noimi. Nice to meet you.”
“Roger and Janet. Nice to meet you too. Quite a girl you have here.” Mr. Keating said. Nodding towards me.
Jeremy walked up behind me and wrapped his arm around my waist and whispered in my ear. “What a girl in dead.” He kissed just under my ear. I couldn’t help but chuckle.
My mom said in return, “Quite a young man you guys have here. He wooed me when he unpacked my house for me. He has been on my good side ever since.” She looked at him and smiled.
“Well it’s good to hear that these two go together. They sure do make a good couple.” His mom said. “Would you like to join us for some hot chocolate? We just made it and we would love for you to join us.”
“I would love to. I have to work later, but for the time, I would love to just be around other people for a change.” Mr. and Mrs. Keating walked my mother inside and Teddy wasn’t too far behind while Jeremy and I stayed back for just a minute.
When everyone was inside he leaned me up against the car and placed a hand on each side of me. “Merry Christmas, Abby.” He leaned down and kissed me.
“Merry Christmas to you too, Jeremy. I love you.” I reached up and kissed him again.
