Hyunjin's POV

Seungmin laid beside me as I stared off in to space.

It was my turn to keep watch so I made sure I was awake to watch over the two.

He stirred and I looked at him, he made a few noises in his sleep and continued to stir.

Jeongin was sleeping soundly so it was just me who was awake, I put a comforting hand on Seungmin's hand and rubbed my thumb against it. He could've been dreaming of anything, but I wouldn't want to leave him alone if he was dreaming of something traumatic.

Soon he stopped stirring and I assumed it had all calmed down

"Thank you" I heard a soft whisper.

I smiled to myself and squeezed Seungmin's hand as a way of saying 'Don't worry about it'

I was so tired but I had to stay up so we didn't get targeted while we were sleeping.

It was silent, nobody was talking in the distance, nobody was screaming, it felt strangely calm

Like, yes, we are in a killing game

But the tranquility of a night knowing nobody has died, most people may be in a peaceful sleep and the only thing you can hear is the ambience of the night. Calm.

I allowed myself to relax more than I could ever in what I've been situated in, I thought about everybody

Although the people I'm thinking about may be struggling, I couldn't see it in such light at the current moment

I saw strong people fighting for the people they loved. And I didn't even see them as killers.

Could you blame them?

Selfishness comes with all of us in these kinds of situations, we're not strangers to it, nor are we immune to it, we may be the good guys in our views, but we're still just as selfish.

Selfishness may not always be the easiest way to describe what has happened to every single tribute here tonight, but for now, what else can you call it?

\.../

"Morning sleepyhead"

I opened my eyes to Seungmin, lightly smiling "you're lucky Jeongin was awake or else we could've been dead meat"

"Maybe not, there wasn't a single cannon shot last night, and it was very quiet" Jeongin spoke, to which I hummed in agreement

"I guess everyone has got their priorities straight" I shrug

"Let's look for food and water, I'm starving and thirsty" Seungmin complained

"I don't see why not" Jeongin mutters, picking up his sais

"I remember where the berry bush was, I don't think Jisung and Minho would've stayed at the same spot, so I think we're safe to go that way" I suggest, earning a nod from Jeongin

There was a happy atmosphere among us, despite out situation, it's seemed everything had settled down as we continued to walk to out destination.

"Yes! You were right" Jeongin punched the air and went to the berry bush

"There's a lake nearby here" I add

"Double whammy" Seungmin cheered, keeping his voice at a reasonable volume.

I smile at Seungmin who smiles back without hesitation and we turn back to Jeongin.

My face fell

"Wait, Jeongin watch out!" I warn

There was a beehive right above him and it looked like it was hanging on a thread.

Jeongin moved back quickly and just in time, as the hive fell.

Seungmin gulped and grabbed my hand "shall we run?"

I nod "to the lake" I say quickly as all three of us turned to run

"Ow!" Jeongin semi-yelled and ran faster "those stings really hurt" he whined as we all ran to the lake

"Aren't those stings deadly?" I ask, panicking

"No, no they're not" Seungmin answers confidently "but Jeongin should definitely lay down so he doesn't have any bad effects" he adds quickly

"So there are side effects?" Jeongin asks quickly

"Yeah" Seungmin replied

Once we got the the lake Seungmin pulled out a water bottle he had and put it in the lake, bubbles floated to the surface, showing water was filling in to the bottle.

Once it was full he handed it to Jeongin and let him take big gulps before he suggested he lay down for a while.

"So much for happy" I mutter to myself

"What?" Seungmin looked at me

"Nothing" I smile

Seungmin holds my hand and looks in to my eyes

My god his eyes are so pretty, it's like getting lost in a dark chocolate galaxy, each sparkle enchanting.

I hadn't noticed I was staring, but I noticed Seungmin was too.

We stayed quiet and soon both looked away, still no words were spoken, I had taken that moment to take in how beautiful Seungmin was

Everything about him was gorgeous, as if he was sculpted by the God's and made them work over time to make him perfect.

Every time I look in to his eyes I see so much, it's so enchanting, it's so beautiful, Seungmin is so beautiful

The silence between us wasn't awkward, we were just aware of eachother's presensce and taking in every detail about out features.

I had forgotten about the incident that happened not long ago and focused on the gorgeous boy in front of me

I always told myself I wasn't gay, I would never kiss another boy or come close to liking them, but when I look at Seungmin, something flutters around in my stomach.

I didn't quite understand it, it felt too quick, too rushed, but I couldn't dismiss such a feeling that I felt so strongly for a single human being

Maybe I do like boys?

After a bit, Seungmin went to check on Jeongin quickly as I realised we had distanced from him with our little moment.

I heard voices.

I tensed

My lips pursed as I fell quiet and listened

I recognised those voices like anything, maybe Jeongin was right, the people from District 9 have very distinguishable accents.

Why was it always them we ran in to? Was it fate?

I slowly creep to a tree and climb up it, I grew up in a forest-y district so it wasn't a problem.

I look down and spectate.

What was going on?
