Gia's eyes slowly blinked open and she found me straight away, making grabby hands at me. Crystal had fixed up her cheek, then the medicine had pretty much knocked her out because she was so exhausted, so she had slept a while.

Sage was also sleeping, and Rider had been sedated because he didn't get along with the anaesthesia.

Basically, there were three tired kids.

"Nice to see you awake sweetheart,"

"Where is dad?"

"Why don't you have some water?" I said, holding it as she desperately sipped through a straw, "How are you feeling?"

"Sore,"

"Yeah. The good news is that you have no serious injuries,"

"Okay. What about dad?"

"Gia, do you know what a coma is?"

"Is that where someone is asleep for ages and they can't wake up?"

"Kind of, yeah. Your dad is in a coma, so his body is... sleeping like you said. He might be able to hear, or feel, I don't really know, but the important part is that his body is healing,"

"Some people don't wake up,"

"I know, but I spoke to the doctors and they think he has a good chance. It's okay to feel scared, or angry, or confused,"

She nodded and began to cry, so I slid my arm beneath her and held her close.

"It's gonna be tricky for all of us to not have your dad around, but you are going to come and stay with me while we wait for him to get better. The doctors are really good,"

"We can't all fit at your house,"

"Well. I guess I am technically staying with you, because I am gonna come and stay at your house,"

"What if he dies?"

"I don't think he will,"

"But what if?"

"We will cross that bridge if it comes to it, but I don't think it will. The doctor has offered to come and explain it to you if you'd like?"

"Alone,"

"Okay. I will go and see if Rider or Sage are awake, then we can think about food,"

"I don't get how this all happened so fast,"

"I feel that way too. If you feel like you need to talk to an adult at any time, someone like Clarissa, you can tell me, and I will figure it out because this is a new situation,"

"I want Clarissa,"

"I will give her a ring in a bit and see what she can do,"

I asked a nurse to try and get Cal's doctor to come down for Gia, and stayed with her until he came, then I went to see if Rider was awake yet.

He was, his arm in a green cast which was a lucky guess from whoever did it.

"Mr sleepyhead," I laughed quietly, "How are you feeling?"

"Luke, I'm starting to remember and it's scaring me,"

"You're all fixed up now,"

I pulled a chair up and sat cross legged on it, letting him put his hand ontop of mine.

"The car hit my side,"

"Yeah, if you need to speak to an adult like your therapist, or any therapist, I will do my best to sort that out. I know you have been in a car crash before, and you might have a ton of emotions building up,"
