"Gia, babygirl, you need to wake up. We're gonna go on a walk,"

"I don't want to,"

"We need some fresh air,"

It was a warm Sunday afternoon and Gia had woken up, eaten, then gone back to sleep. Being cooped up wasn't good for either of us, and I wanted to treat her to a drink and a cake.

She was being really brave.

"I wanna stay home,"

"Me too, but we need to get moving a bit,"

Rubbing her eyes, she sat up on the sofa and groaned, folding her arms.

"Are you hungry? You didn't have lunch,"

"No. I don't want lunch,"

"Mkay... get your shoes on then. We can eat out,"

"No!"

I put my shoes on and waited for her to do the same, then grabbed my wallet and locked the house up.

As we walked, she took my hand and kept her head down, walking without her usual bounce. I was worried about her.

"Do you fancy a cake?"

"No. That costs money,"

"I have enough money, all the guys are helping and we have your dad's money,"

"No!"

"Gia,"

"Get off me," she pushed me away and folded her arms, glaring fiercely.

We got a few stares from people, but I was trying not to make a scene because it would embarrass her.

"I promise we have enough money for food. Let's go and get you a panini, and a cake, and talk about what's made you worried,"

"Then can we go and see dad again?"

"We can. This sounds like a good deal,"

"Fine,"

She took my hand again and I took her to the nearest coffee shop, letting her pick a panini and a cake. I chose myself a cake and ordered a coffee, Gia a smoothie, then we sat down and waited.

She swung her legs and fiddled with one of her braids, avoiding my eye contact.

"Ashton has sorted it out so that we still get your dad's pay. So we get your dad's money, and my money! We have enough for food, and water, and internet, and new pens and books,"

"Okay,"

"Is anything else worrying you?"

"What if dad cannot move or talk when he wakes up?"

"He didn't suffer an injury that severe, so they do not think that is a very high possibility. He might have some headaches, and need some help for a bit, but they think he should make a full recovery,"

"I hate waiting,"

"Me too. I've never gone a day without talking to Cal for at least 20 years. It's weird, isn't it?"

"If I had put my shoes on faster then maybe it wouldn't have been us,"

"We can't change what happened. I wish I could, but it is not our fault,"

"I heard you crying,"

I pursed my lips together and gulped, then gave her a weak smile. I didn't want to show her that I was anxious as hell for she didn't need to have that worry.
