GEORGE POV:
George is nervously tapping his fingers on the steering wheel while looking at Rosie and Luna through his rear-view mirror. He had suggested this himself, but he's freaking out now. He doesn't understand how Rosie can be so calm and collected at all times, she's just breezing through it all with a smile on her face. They're on their way to his parents because they had been dying to finally meet the woman who's making their son so happy. They had been talking about her non-stop during Luna's birthday party some time ago, and his mom couldn't stop asking when she'd come over.
LUNA'S BIRTHDAY PARTY
"Happy birthday dear Luna! Happy birthday to you!" Everyone cheered excitedly, and Luna giggled when George lifted her hands up in the air. He couldn't believe that his little girl was one year old already. It had been an incredibly challenging year but looking back he realised how lucky he was. He looked around the room of people, his parents, siblings, and Alex and Lando, and realised that this was what life was all about. He was missing one person though, which was Rosie. She came over yesterday, bringing Luna presents and making a celebratory dinner for the three of them. He was too shy to invite her to this party, thinking that it might be a bit too quick, but he was regretting that decision now.
His mother couldn't stop gushing about how pretty she was after George showed her photos of her with Luna. His siblings were all being annoying, telling him to get a grip and be a bit more confident around her. He tried explaining that he was being more confident already, but they all raised their brows at him while giggling. It didn't matter much to him, as long as Rosie still wanted to be with him, he was fine with being a bit of a wimp. He looks at Alex and Lando who are playing with Luna, thanks to them they shared their first date without Luna, and he was incredibly grateful for his friends.
He's shocked from his thoughts when his father lays his hand on his shoulder. "Oh! You scared me!" he chuckles, "sorry Georgie, my bad. Just wanted to ask you if you were thinking of bringing Rosie here anytime soon?" George hums, and his father continues, "your mom can't talk about anything other than her these days, but I personally would like to meet her too. I've got a good feeling about her; I've never seen you this happy before. The fact that you're still nervous around her is a good sign too, you know that right?" George chuckles while looking at his father, "yeah, I know. Don't you think I'm going too fast if I ask her to meet my family already?" His dad shakes his head, "you let her take care of Lunie while you're away, meeting us is definitely not too fast. If it feels good, it feels good. Life is too short to worry about things like that."
He's left alone with his parents after the other guests have left, his father wants to put Luna to bed, so he's in the kitchen with his mom to clean up some things. "Darling?" he hums, already preparing himself for what's about to come. "I don't want to pressure you, and I have a feeling your dad talked about this with you as well, but I'd love it if you brought Rosie home to meet us. I know you're still nervous, but she seems like an amazing girl. I'd love to meet her and get to know her." George nods, looking at the sweet smile of his mother. "I will ask her when I see her Tuesday. Maybe we can come on Friday then? I want to ask her to join me for the last two races. It's only Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi left now." His mom nods, before raising her eyebrows, "George! Saudi Arabia is not this weekend but the one after that! You're asking her that late? Sometimes I don't get how your brain works" she scolds him, and he chuckles while scratching his head. "Yeah, not my finest hour I admit that. Shit, what if she says no? I haven't even thought about that option!"
He shakes his head at himself when he thinks of that memory. He is planning on flying tomorrow evening, and it's Friday morning now and he still hasn't asked Rosie the big question. He sighs, what now? "Babe can you please tell me what's going on? You haven't responded to me, and I've said your name 4 times now" a worried Rosie asks from the backseat. He looks around and sees a free parking spot, parking the car before turning off the engine and staring at the steering wheel. "I've been wanting to ask you something for a while now, but I am nervous about it, so I shoved it forwards. I'm scared that I'm too late now." He confesses before turning around in his seat so he can look at her.
