ROSIE POV:
Rosie is walking out of the airport into the cold French weather, it's supposed to snow tonight, which is exciting since it's almost Christmas. 'As long as George and Luna can be here in two days' time I'm fine' she thinks to herself. They agreed that Rosie would leave the 20th of December, so she could have two days with her family before George and Luna would join to finally meet them. She told her family about him and his daughter, but not everyone responded supportive, so she wanted to take the two days with them to talk about it before letting George fly over.
"Bonjour" she says when she walks through the door of her parents' home in Giverny. She smiles when her mother walks towards her from the kitchen, wrapping her arms around the small woman. "Hi maman" she mumbles against her, "hello my Rosie, did you have a good journey?" Rosie nods while following her mother into the kitchen. "Yeah, I did, just hope that it won't snow too much. I really want you all to meet George and Luna but if it snows too much, I don't want them to get on the plane" she says with a sigh, and her mother hums. "You really are serious about the guy with the baby then, no?" Rosie looks at her, a bit taken aback, before nodding. "Yeah, I see them in my future, so I guess I really am serious then" she sighs softly at her mother's expression, "I'm going to find papa now."
"Ma petite fille!" her father says excitedly when Rosie walks into his study, standing up immediately to wrap his arms around you. "Tu m'as tellement manqué" he tells her while pulling her away from his body a bit to look at her, "you became even more beautiful since the last time I saw you! I guess your boyfriend and his daughter make you even prettier, when are they coming?" she smiles at her dad. Her mom wasn't excited about George and Luna at all, but her dad was happy as long as she was happy. Maybe he was also very excited that George was a F1 driver, but she'll take all support she can get. "They're arriving the 22nd, and we'll leave the 24th to celebrate Christmas with his family." Her father nods, hugging her again. "I'm happy I get to see you and to meet them, just ignore your mother, when she realises how nice he is she'll be fine. Let's go downstairs and have dinner now!"
Rosie tried ignoring her mom's facial expressions or annoying comments when she told them about George and Luna and what they had been up to, but she was done with it now. It was the second night of them together, and George and Luna would arrive in the morning since he's taking the night flight so Luna will hopefully sleep. "Maman, can you please explain to me why you're acting like this when I tell you about them? Can't you see that I'm happy?" she sees her father looking at her before he squeezes her hand. Her mother sighs, "I just don't think it's normal to date someone who has a child already, and he's so young! Why a child so early when he works all the time? There are enough boys here too to marry and have a kid with!"
"Maman, we talked about this years ago... I'm not moving back here, I have my work, my friends, my entire life in England. I'm sorry, but that's not happening. Why does it matter that George is young? He's an amazing father, which you would know if you were paying attention to what I tell you instead of being annoyed" her father clears his throat, and Rosie looks at him with a sad smile. "I think Rosie is right mon amour, and she's happy. That's all that matters, no?" her mother looks at both of them before standing up. "I'm going to take a walk; we will talk later" before she leaves them at the table.
"I'm sorry, I tried to ignore it but it's making me sad, and George and Luna are on the plane already and I don't want them to feel unwelcome. I'm excited to show them where I grew up" Rosie looks at her father apologetically, but he waves her words away. "It's time your mother stops whining and sees that you're not moving back here, and that you found someone that you see a future with. She just needs to hear it from you directly. Let's clean up, I think she made Crème brûlée. She won't notice if we eat a bit from that" he winks at her while standing up, and Rosie chuckles. "She will, but let's eat a bit anyways."
