Twens POV

My body jolts awake causing me pain, I'm drenched in sweat, gasping for air with tears streaming down my cheeks. Nightmares are a common occurrence for me, there isn't a night where I don't have a nightmare. I should be used to them by now, but I don't think I ever will be.

I raise my hand to wipe the tears from my face but notice it's being held by someone. I don't get scared because there's only one person who would do this. I could hear his breathing as he inhales and exhales in his sleep.

I could assume it was already the next day because of the many footsteps and voices passing by the door.

I wonder when he went back to his cell. I didn't hear when he left, let alone when he came back. He must have fallen asleep waiting for me to wake up. I don't wake him immediately because I know he's tired, but I'm tempted to do so because soon preparations for the day will begin.

I'm afraid of being punished if we're not ready on time.

I continue to lay next to him, seeing as I can't move even if I wanted to, and listen to him sleep. After a few moments have passed I decide to wake him up as I've let him rest long enough. I squeeze his hand that is holding on to mine, give it a little shake, and call out his name.

It takes a few calls and shakes, but I eventually wake him.

"Mmm...Twen. How are you feeling?" Whispers Jamie.

I stay quiet for a moment as the flashbacks of yesterday play in my head. I shake my head to rid my mind of my suffering. But it's useless as a lump forms in my throat, making it hard to swallow, and my hands begin to tremble.

Jamie notices this and squeezes my hand to comfort me, his other hand is on my head petting me. Seeing as he can't hug me without causing me harm.

"Shh it's ok Twen, I'm here." Whispers Jamie.

"I'm so sorry you have to go through this."

I don't respond immediately and try to push the lump down my throat, along with stopping my trembling hands.

"You ok, Jamie?"

Instead of focusing on me, I switch the attention to Jamie as I know he also had a customer yesterday. He always focuses on me and tends to neglect himself. I know he suffers too.

"Jamie no hurt?"

Jamie lets out a sigh with a sound that sounds like he is smiling.

"No, no hurt. I'm fine."

"You sure?"

"Yes. More than anything I think you should be asking if you're okay. That sick bastard did a number on you, you had a fever all night."

"It normal."

Wait. I make a confused face and ask.

"All night? How know?" I ask him questioningly.

Usually, after the last customer, Jamie cleans my body and wounds as much as he can. When it's time for him to go back to his cell he has no choice but to leave me alone with my wounds. There had been times where I would wake up in the middle of my sleep and could feel I had a fever. Though there wasn't anything I could do about it, I just had to ride it out.

"Jamie how know?"

"I stayed the night with you. I guess you didn't notice since you were passed out the whole night."

"Jamie here sleep?"

"Yes."

"Jamie go, trouble. Hurt if here."
