Liam's POV

My mother walked up the porch stairs and entered our house; I followed her. She went straight toward the kitchen while I went to my father's office. It was a short walk from the front door to the office door. When I arrived, I didn't even have to knock. I heard my father invite me in. I opened the door and closed it once I was inside.

"Did you need me, father?" He was sitting down at his desk, looking over some papers. He didn't say anything for a second and continued to check the paperwork on his desk. I could feel my anger rising. I could be by Twen's side right now instead of standing here doing nothing.

"Yes, I wanted to talk to you about something important," he said as he put his pen and papers down. He lifted his head and extended his arm, signaling me to sit in one of the chairs facing his desk.

"Really? I, too, have something important to tell you."

"Very well." I walked to one of the chairs in front of the desk and sat down, placing my arms on the armrests.

"As you know, recently, we've had many rogue incidents...." Of course, I know; they've been a pain in the ass, and they've taken time away from me seeing Twen.

For the past two weeks, we've had an increase in rogues trespassing on our territory. Rogues getting into our lands is common; we often deal with this situation. Though they don't typically do anything, they're harmless. Most of the time, they're trespassing because they're hungry and want to hunt on our land. We chase them away and get on with our lives, but sometimes we'll encounter dangerous rogues, like the ones who killed our Beta's mate.

"Yes."

"Well...I got off the phone with the Alphas of our neighboring packs, and they said they, too, have been dealing with an increase of rogues trespassing onto their territories. As we were discussing these rogue incidents, we discovered a pattern."

"A pattern?"

"As you know, the rogues who've been trespassing onto our lands have not been hunting; they don't attack our pack members, and they immediately run away when they see our patrol. They don't do or want anything but seem to be looking for something."

"Okay?"

"The Alphas stated the same thing. The rogues trespassing onto their lands have not been hunting; they don't attack their pack members and immediately run away when they see their patrol. But they still come back and don't do or want anything."

"They must be looking for something; my question is, what are they looking for?"

"Hah," I sigh as I contemplate the information my father gave me. After some time had passed, a thought occurred to me.

"Do you think... they're looking for...Twen?" I shift my eyes to my father, and our eyes meet. My father had a neutral look on his face as if that was what he was thinking."

"Actually, that came to mind. Whoever had him locked away has to be looking for him. So what if these rogues are those people?"

I breathe out before answering. "There's only one way to find out...we must capture one."

"I agree. I'll increase the patrol. I'll tell them to look out for the rogues and capture them if they trespass."

"Now...what did you have to tell me?"

"It actually has to do with Twen as well."

"Yes, Rita already told me you took him to the clinic after he fainted from a fever."

"No, that's not it." My father leans back in his chair and interlocks his hands, waiting to hear what I have to say.

"Earlier, we were on a walk, I was giving him a small tour, and we started talking. He...mentioned, what he calls, the bad place. The place Rita told us about in her office."
