Liam's POV

We run past our borders in pursuit of the rogues that trespassed onto our lands. We reached the patrol on duty in a matter of minutes after hearing their alert. The three rogues commenced their retreat when they saw the hoard of patrol members emerging from the thick forest. We followed them to our borders. There was a slight miscalculation on their part. They thought we would stop once we reached the end of our territory...but they were wrong.

Once they crossed, we followed along. I could tell they were surprised; one almost did us the courtesy of tripping, but it held itself up. I could feel their fear. I asked myself if they were scared because of us or because they were afraid of what Michael would do to them for allowing themselves to be spotted and chased.

We bobbed and weaved through the forest, jumping over boulders and dips. We were used to running and training over uneven land. It looked to be the opposite for the rogues; they caught themselves from almost tripping, their hind legs buckling under them. However, they were still very agile; they looked like they ran on uneven terrain, but not as often as we did. We all growled, knowing full well that we could capture them. They knew this, too.

The rogues did precisely what we thought they would do and separated. The rogue on the right turned west, the one in the middle kept straight, and the one on the left went east. During our pursuit, we all mind-linked and formed groups in case this happened. The two groups chased after their designated rogue while my group chased the one in the middle.

We knew these unclaimed lands reasonably well, so we knew we were running out of time. Soon, the land would flatten, making it much easier to escape. Thankfully, the rogue had slowed down because of the uneven terrain. We were biting at its legs and scratching at it, trying to get a grip on it with our claws. Some of us would try and fail, causing us to trip and fall, but then get back up and continue with the chase. I was at the front of the group as I was faster than everyone; there were a few instances where I thought I had finally caught the rogue, but it would pull itself off my claws. I would rip off its flesh each time.

Blood spurted out of its legs and splashed onto us. Now, we really had to catch it as soon as possible; the last thing we wanted was for it to bleed out to death. I could see a clearing a few feet away from us, where the flat lands began. I pushed myself to speed up and attempted to get a hold of the rogue, whether that was by my teeth or claws. As we were nearing the opening, I pounced on the rogue and managed to bite down on its leg. The rogue whimpered and let out a pained bark. We lost our footing and rolled down on the ground until we reached the thick trees' end.

I shook my head and stood back up, the patrol surrounding us. We had reached the clearing, but it was now too late for the rogue to try and escape. I swiftly changed back into a human and stood over it.

"There's nowhere to run now." The rogue breathed heavily as it stared at me from the corner of its eye. It huffed and closed its eyes, going limp in the process. It had surrendered to us. With the sudden appearance of these rogues, there was no time to get rope or handcuffs. The rest of my group also changed back to a human and looked for anything to tie the rogue up.

Unfortunately, there was nothing we could use. "Shift," I demanded. The rogue got up from the ground and kept its head lowered. It quickly shifted and then stood up on its two legs. "You will follow us. If you try to make a run for it, we won't hesitate to kill you." The patrol that circled us growled at the rogue.

"...."

"Do you understand?" The rogue nodded his head. I walked past him and looked back for it to follow me, but when he took a step, he fell. I sighed, "Help him up and carry him if necessary. We must get back to the pack." I turned around and headed back in the direction of the pack. Two pack members carried the rogue while the others surrounded it. We soon found the rest of the patrol; they each came running toward us when they spotted us. I looked over their groups and was relieved they were all fine; however, they returned empty-handed. My brows furrowed.
