Liam's POV

I wake up to the sound of my alarm blaring; I groggily reach for my phone and turn off the alarm. I get a glimpse of the time and then put my arm down; I exhale as I lie on the bed.

I sit up on the bed, sitting for a couple of minutes with my eyes closed, and then I get off. I make my way to the door of my room and exit, going straight towards Lucas's room.

Without knocking, I walk in; there, I see Luca still sleeping on his bed without a care in the world. I pick up one of the pillows on the ground and throw it as hard as I can in his direction.

"LUCAS, WAKE UP," I shout.

Lucas jumps up from the bed and falls to the ground, which makes me laugh.

"Jesus! Do you know what time it is? Why are you playing around so early in the morning?" Lucas gets up from the ground, annoyed, and gets back in bed.

"It's seven in the morning, you know."

Lucas exhales and makes an annoyed whining noise while he rubs his eyes.

"Fuck," he whispers. "Why do we have to get up so early," he asks as he sits up from the bed.

"Because we have to be at the airport 2 hours early. We have to make sure you're back on time for your wedding. I mean, who decides to go out of the country for their bachelor party?"

"It sounded like a good idea at the time," he says while trying to sound innocent.

"Yeah, well, you're lucky the wedding's at night."

Lucas lets out a smirk; he gets up from his bed and heads into the bathroom. I walk out of his room and head over to another, and wake up two of our friends that had joined us on this adventure. I make sure they're awake before heading back into Lucas's room.

When I walk in, I see Lucas packing his things. I walk over to a chair in his room, sit down, and stare at him. I think he could feel me staring because he stopped what he was doing and looked back at me.

"What?"

"Do you think you'll regret it?" Lucas stares at me without saying anything. "Do you think you'll regret getting married to someone that's not your mate?"

Lucas exhales before answering my question.

"You know, I've been asked that question ever since I proposed to Mia."

"All I can really say is probably, but...I don't feel anything. Even if you haven't met your mate, you can still feel...I don't know...something, at least that's what everyone says."

"I...honestly don't think my mate is alive. Do you feel anything?"

I understand Lucas's words completely; I don't feel anything either. Everyone in the pack always talks about that feeling one feels when their fated mate is out there. Our wolves can feel them, but I have never felt that feeling.

"I don't feel anything either, but I have to wait and see if I find them."

"That's understandable, I waited too, but I'm now 28. I think it's time for me to accept that I don't have a fated mate. Therefore, Mia will be my chosen mate."

"I understand," is all I say.

"Yeah, well, you are only 21, so you have a lot of time to find your fated mate; I wouldn't lose hope yet."

I felt bad for Lucas; he's my best friend and will be my Beta; it sucks that he's not marrying his fated mate. Mia is a sweet girl, and I like her, but a chosen mate is not the same as a fated mate.
