Lucas's POV

As usual, I got up early, dressed, and went downstairs for breakfast. Some of the staff were already in the kitchen, so I didn't have to cook for myself. I sat at one of the bar stools on the kitchen island and waited for my food. After a few minutes of sitting by myself, Liam joined me.

"Good morning," he greeted me and everyone else. Twen was with him as well, which was a surprise. He nodded at me as he sat on his chair and looked elsewhere. My eyes lingered on him as a subtle, sweet scent came from him, but then I shifted my eyes to Liam again.

"Morning," I said to both of them.

"I'm surprised you're here. I thought you'd be chasing after Mia by now."

"I'm gonna go find her as soon as I finish eating."

"Man, she still isn't talking to you? It's been two days. What did you even say to her?"

I sighed. Mia has been ignoring me since Liam's mate introduction. The last time we talked was two days ago. I woke up early to talk to her, but she just won't listen. I reflect on our conversation two days ago to see if I really said anything bad to her.

Flash Back

"What are you doing, Lucas? Let go." I walked us to a secluded area and let go of her hand.

"What was that," I questioned her as I extended my arm.

"What? I was only asking him questions."

"You were being condescending, and you can't ask him questions like that."

"Why?"

"It's...not for me to say."

"So you're telling me not to ask him questions but won't tell me why? That doesn't make any sense."

"Maybe so, but I can't tell you." She looked away and stared off into the distance. "Hahh...." I pinched the bridge of my nose. "...I know all too well your hatred towards rogues."

"THEN WHY ARE YOU TAKING THAT THING'S SIDE!" She yelled. "I'M YOUR WIFE, YOUR MATE!"

"BECAUSE LIAM'S RIGHT, MIA!" I yelled back. I sighed and tried to calm myself down. "That boy didn't kill my mother, and he didn't kill your parents or your brother. I'm so sorry you lost them, but it's unfair for us or anyone to hate him for things he has nothing to do with."

"Nothing to do with!? He's a rogue!"

"You know what, whatever," she said as she walked away from our conversation.

"Mia," I called out to her.

***

I could tell her Twen's story. That way, she'll understand and have some sympathy for the guy.

"Hahh, honestly, she's being so immature. I didn't say anything bad to make her angry at me."

"Wow, thanks."

I whipped my head towards the kitchen entrance; Mia stood there glaring at me. "Shit."

She turned her head, walked straight to the door, and walked outside. I jumped up from my seat and ran after her. I quickly caught up to her and ran in front of her to stop her from walking away. "Hold on, Mia."

"Why? Aren't I being too immature for you?"

"I mean...you kind of are." She scoffed and started walking away, but I grabbed her by the arm and stopped her.

"Wait, wait, wait, look, I'm sorry," I said as I turned her around to face me. "This is ridiculous, Mia, I just want you to understand...."

"Well, I'm not going to understand."
