Cora POV:

"Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to deliver important cargo from point A to point B. Do you accept?" Bruce's gruff voice speaks over the coms.

I'm quite cozy in the cave swivel chair. I have an oversized sweater on and I finally got a pair of slippers for down here. The stone floors are not heated.

"What's the package? Must be pretty damn risky if you'd ask me." Jason speaks while leaning against the railing of a building.

"It's necessary. Our other units are occupied. Do you accept?" Batman talks stiffly.

It's almost comical at this point. I mean he's being all serious, and Jason is getting prepared to 007 or something.

"So I'm your last resort? That's convenient. " Jason retorts. My lips tug up just slightly. They're such drama queens. Though I suppose Jason doesn't actually know the details.

"With this cargo, yes." Batman says bluntly. I flinch at that. Do they have to be so bristly with each other? Because that was uncalled for.

"Damn. You must be truly desperate then. What's the cargo?" Jason repeats. Should I speak up?

"I'll brief you back at the cave." Batman avoids. I roll my eyes. Drama. Queens.

"Jay, can you give me a ride to school tomorrow?" I nearly sigh.

"Sure thing kid. I'm not busy." He says, looking directly at Batman.

"I had this handled, Chickadee." Batman speaks into his com, not looking away from Jason. I flinch.

"Batman, not to be rude, but it's not a mission. To the public, Jason is my brother. It shouldn't be a huge deal if he drops me off for school." I say with as much confidence as I can muster.

"Seriously? You couldn't have just asked me this like a normal person? Jesus B." Jason scoffs.

"Verbal conversations can be overheard." Batman defends. I fight the urge to roll my eyes again.

"Uh huh. Because we have a packed audience on this deserted rooftop." Jason stresses.

"You and I both know we have enemies everywhere." Batman crosses his arms over his chest.

"Anyone goes near that kid, they die." Jason says lowly. Bruce nods silently.

If it weren't for the body cams, I wouldn't have seen him disappear into the night. Charlotte was not kidding about this family being extra. I almost wish we had told her sooner, so she could give me a heads up.

"Okay kid, am I picking you up from your house or somewhere else?" Jason speaks into his coms.

"Somewhere else. Arkham, actually." I respond, leaning forward on my chair.

"Why Arkham?" He questions.

"Harley hasn't broken out yet. She demanded that we have a session, specifically before school." I say with a shrug, even though he can't see me.

"Cool. I've been meaning to check in with her." Jason mentions.

"Great! See you tomorrow, bro." I grin, and I'm sure he can hear it.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world, princess." He says, matching my grin.

And that's how Red hood ended up in Harley's cell room. His helmet is glistening in the fluorescents while no one can tell what expression he's making.
